Like the choice of show, don't like the choice of channel.
Though a decent timeslot, must have been hard to get?

If anyone is interested, it appears that ABC3 is showing Vampire Knight from the begining again starting tomorrow night. i think it starts about 8pm but check the tv guide if you intend to watch it.

Also straight after Vampire Knight they will be showing Astroboy, i assume that it is the 00's series from the start and as mentioned above, Vehicle Voltron from the 80's after that.

We already Vampire Knight, but when there is nothing else on...
Though I refuse to watch the 00's Astroboy - it's just, no. But the kids do.

As for vehicle force - I haven't seen it before - kinda refused to watch it after lion force. But I gave it a passing glance whilst doing other things.

Though I am curious to see how long they let this run for before they give up *remembers CN attempt*

I saw Voltron Defender of the Universe on ABC3 and Yes it's the old 1984 version.
I thought it would be the new Voltron animation.

But it's good to see the old Voltron Cars again even if I haven't seen it on TV in decades.
They should put Voltron Lions one on as well.
Or when Voltron Cars finishes they can put the Lions one on after.

I liked the Lion series better since I knew all the characters and storylines...but now I'm starting to forget them since I got older...it's been too long I need to see it again. Very Happy

One thing to notice about both Voltron series is that.
Voltron Vehicle is based in 'Space' while Voltron Lions is based on the Planet Arus.

Since I almost forgot about this since I hadn't seen Voltron in a long time.
Especially this:

Lion Force Voltron (Voltron of the Far Universe) or 'GoLion' or 'Beast King Golion' and called 'Voltron III'

Vehicle Force Voltron (Voltron of the Near Universe) which was 'Voltron I' or 'Armored Fleet Dairugger XV'

There was a Gladiator Voltron (Voltron of the Middle Universe) but it didn't hit off that well as it was suppose to be Voltron II.

But is was considered Voltron I, II and III because the distance in the between the planets, Earth and the planet Arus.
Since Planet Arus was the farthest in the Universe, GoLion or Voltron Lion was called "Lion Force Voltron (Far in the Universe)" and so it was Called 'Voltron III' bacause it was based on Planet Arus...I almost totally forgot about this.

Voltron Lion is considered the first season while Voltron Vehicle is considered Second Season.
Each had 52 episodes.

I do remember their was a combined episodes there Lion force and Vehicle Voltron join forces for a few episodes.

No. It's not in Madman's interest to keep track of non-Madman anime broadcasts here.

Evey now and then, though, Anime News Network does an anime-on-TV roundup for Australians that includes all anime. See if you can track those down.

Star Driver was on last night on TVS 11:30pm for Sydney viewers.
It was the first episode and it was in japanese dub with english subs.

The only complaint about the subs on this show is that there a little too fast and sometimes you barely have time to finish reading the sentence before the next group of dialogue subs are flashed on screen.
I maybe not that a fast reader but I'm sure the subs were a little too quick for anybody's standards.
Even subs on SBS are at the right speed but with anime subs they can sometimes can be sped up because of lot of dialogue or the characters are talking too fast ontop of each other like there is no pauses between character dialogue.

But other than that don't miss it next week if your looking forward to watching Star Driver.

To look for it on the program guide look for "Super Happy anime Show"

The show will repeat episode 1 on Sunday 13 Jan at 12:30am if you missed it.

Episode 2 will be on Monday night 9:30pm and repeat on Wednesday night at 11:30pm
By look at TVS website it starts on Monday nights at 9:30pm and repeats on Wednesdays.

Oreimo is on TVS now as the "Super happy anime show".
Star driver has finished weeks ago...but since I hadn't followed much of Star Driver I decided to switch on TVS to see if Star Driver was still on and all of a sudden I managed to see Oreimo had started.

The timeslots is the same with all Super happy anime show.
But best check TVS website for times.

Oreimo is kinda a strange anime concept.
Older brother Kyosuke accidentally stubbles onto he's younger sister Kirino porn games collection (or eroge(an adult game) or H-game).

And Yet poor Kyosuke get treated badly because he's covering for his younger sister who isn't even old enough to own such content.
What's even worse is the Kirino doesn't even treat her brother properly and she treats him very bad.
Kirino very aggressive and abusive tsundere-like personality but when her parents are around she acts innocent like and acts like top A grade student.
But she's like has this EVIL hidden personality under the surface.

To me personally I would HATE to have someone like that around manipulating you and blackmailing you and then putting on the innocent act when others are around...it's truly an evil way of treating people.

But I'm starting to notice a lot of anime showing very aggressive tsundere girls in anime...especially Bleach...as I can pick at least three maybe four girls in Bleach that have very aggressive sadistic behaviour towards men.
Soi-Fong is one and also Tatsuki(friend of Ichigo and Orihime) and then there's Keigo's sister(forget name but is sister of Ichigo's school friend) and then of course Ichigo's sister Karin who are both VERY aggressive characters in anime towards men.
Does Tite Kubo like making aggressive females or something.

But as for Oreimo it's an interest series of having an innocent like sister who really wasn't so innocent after all, who is hiding a secret life of collecting anime (including adult anime games) to which aren't suited to her age.

I can understand the parents would freak when they caught their kids having adult content, but having a sister blackmail you into keeping it a secret so you can take the blame is just plain wrong.
But this is just a basis to Oreimo storyline as there is a lot more the characters and such.

Kirino is just a horrible character all around. The show is so much better when she's out of the picture and it focuses on its side characters more.

That was back when Des Mangan was hosting too...Culture night movies on SBS, which included anime films. Razz
While hosting he always did he's little talk about what was going to be shown next and it really did sound like Des Mangan's favourites.

Yeah Puella Magi Madoka Magica starts tonight on ABC3 it has replaced Voltron which finished last Saturday.

I say it has been awhile since I've seen the last episode of Voltron.
I was a kid last time I saw Voltron.
But I wished they played the first series first which had GoLion as that one I can relate to more easily and I was a fan favourite of the toys and all.

Anime Movie Madness on SBS2 This July (Madblog post)

Quote:
Fans of classic anime movies are in for a treat this July on SBS2 as a whole heap of classic movies gets another run in Japanese with English subtitles too no less!

AKIRA

FRIDAY JULY 5, 11:25PM
AKIRA - SPECIAL EDITION Screenshot 2

The definitive anime masterpiece! Neo-Tokyo, 2019. The city is being rebuilt post World War III. Kaneda and Tetsuo, two high school drop outs, stumble on a secret government project to develop new weapons – telekinetic humans. Tetsuo learns of the existence of his ‘peer’, Akira, the project’s most powerful subject, and determines to challenge him…
Beautifully restored in full high definition, with an incredible True HD soundtrack, this is an unmissable anime Blu-Ray!

ROYAL SPACE FORCE: THE WINGS OF HONNEAMISE

FRIDAY JULY 12, 11:25PM

Set on a world not unlike Earth, Shiro is a young man who wanted to join his country’s air force, but directionless, instead finds himself in the ridiculed Royal Space Force. The bumbling Shiro is changed after meeting Riquinni, a caring girl who helps him find his spiritual centre.
As we witness slacker Shiro and the hapless space force crew find new purpose, the corruption of the government conspires against the success of the launch, as the space race becomes fuel for war.

NINJA SCROLL

FRIDAY JULY 19, 11:25PM

Feudal Japan – a time of danger, intrigue and deception. After an entire village is decimated by a mysterious plague, a master swordsman named Jubei undertakes a desperate quest to find The Shogun of the Dark, an evil autocrat who plans to overthrow the Japanese government. But in order to capture him, Jubei must face The 8 Devils of Kimon, the Shogun’s fearsome force of demonic henchmen, each possessing awesome superhuman powers. Joined on his journey by the beautiful and deadly female ninja Kagero, they must together defeat the dominion that rule in terror and restore order to the land.
Amazing, beautiful and mysterious, NINJA SCROLL blends the mysticism of 17th century Japan into an intensely packed tale of pulse pounding anime action, fantasy and adventure.

GHOST IN THE SHELL

FRIDAY JULY 26, 11:25PM

2029 – A female cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi, and the Internal Bureau of Investigations are hot on the trail of “The Puppet Master”, a mysterious and threatening computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts. Together, with her fellow agents from Section 9, they embark on a high-tech race against time to capture the omnipresent entity. GHOST IN THE SHELL took the world by storm, exhibiting a new dimension of anime with unprecedented, mesmerizing cinematic expression. Seamlessly merging traditional cel animation with the latest computer graphic imagery, this stunning sci-fi spectacle challenged the boundaries of mainstream animation with detailed artistic expression and a uniquely intelligent story line.

Personally, I'd have preferred this info before the first movie had aired.

If it is their second time airing it, maybe they did not get any or enough complaints of any serious nature to consider not airing it in the 8:30+pm timeslot again…

A bit late, but does anyone know why last Saturdays episode of Sword Art Online was a repeat? I know it aired at a later time than the usual 8:10PM bracket, but I was still annoyed when I came home from work to find out I didn't even need to record it. They've only aired 5 episodes, why throw in a repeat already?

Well looking at the EPG it's on at Fridays & Saturdays & it be continuing of from Last Saturdays episode so it looks like we be getting 3 more repeats before we get new episodes.

even thou it wont answer your question but hopefully it helps & I know its annoying.

They even replaced the repeats ofMadoka Magica with Oran High Host Club.
I wanted to catch all the clues that forsaw future events that I missed the first time & they replaced it for me.

At least it's not like 44's screwing up StarDriver where not only they skip every second episode, the episode they do air they repeat it straight after on the same night.

Next week we will have live action based anime movies on SBS2.

Space Battleship Yamato 9:30pm Tuesday 23rd September SBS2
Gantz 1 and also Gantz 2 back to back on one night. Wednesday 24th September SBS2
Well officially Gantz 2 is named "Gantz: Perfect Answer"
Gantz 1 starts at 8:30pm and will continue with Gantz: Perfect Answer straight after.

Gantz films also star Kenichi Matsuyama which also played L in Deathnote live action films.

So Tuesday and Wednesday for two days of live action anime based movies.
It might not be anime but watching Japanese movies based on anime shows is sometimes still worth watching.

Yes it's me again.

It seems we have Attack on Titan on SBS2 Tuesday 30th September at 11:25pm to 12:50am.
So we have two episodes of Attack on Titan next Tuesday.

I actually have seen a bit of Attack on Titan at Supanova expo but this time for sure I like to see a bit more of it.

I really enjoyed watching back to back of Gantz movies.
The first movies I can relate since it relates to the manga and bit of the anime.
But since I've only seen the first anime volume and also have the first manga volume of Gantz and so the movies went a little bit further than what I currently knew.
So I could understand Gantz 1 but Gantz: Perfect Answer was a little bit confusing at first since I didn't know that far into manga series and didn't know if the second movie is fully related to the manga or not.

Since the manga is still "on-going" I kinda knew it wouldn't be the final ending but it could be the ending to one part of the manga books.
Notice how Gantz manga is in different colours for each part...the first part being Red coloured volumes then the second part with Blue coloured volumes and then the third part grey colour volumes.
SO I didn't know if Perfect Answer was based on any of the parts of the Gantz manga...well I can always look it up.

Yes that fight train fight scene in Perfect Answer was awesome...and I've read that it is in the manga.
Apparently it they are fighting alien vampires in that scene but the movie doesn't really explain that.
I guess that why the vampires can change their looks and make themselves look like humans after they have killed someone.
And yes they can summon swords from their hands.

I've looked more into the manga and it seems the first two movies are only the first part of the manga(the red covers), but some of the stories outcome have been changed for the movies.

The first Gantz movie is sort of spot on but doesn't explain Kei Kishimoto being actually still alive due to the fact that she actually survived her suicide...so Gantz actually cloned her...so therefor Gantz made a mistake.
But her real self was actually in hospital recovering from her suicide.

SO the first movie does kinda leave things out quite a bit.

Also Gantz actually gives you THREE options NOT two...the third option is a person can gain a unique and more extremely powerful weapon.

But there's lots to cover from this large manga series so I can't expect the movies to cover everything.

The only thing I hate about part in the manga and the second movie Perfect answer is the mission to hunt down Tae which is really messed up mission.
I makes me ask why would Gantz give a mission to hunt down a human and not an alien.
But then I realize Gantz has doing it for Kei Kurono in order to keep everything a secret from outsiders.
The manga is on it's last phase and should be near it's end soon.

Attack on Titan is still running on SBS2 and so far I'm enjoying it but I know it gets even more hairy when the titans actually start attacking and breaking down the walls again.

Sky Crawlers was on the other night which I think was Friday night at midnight...well Saturday morning.

I have to say I haven't seen this anime movie before but the action fighter plane scenes were quite good but the storyline was ok for most part.

The story is about lives of a group of fighter plane pilots.
The movie if alternate history timeline so its fictional war.

But the planes were interesting and were based on Kyushu J7W planes and Supermarine Spitfire.
'The Teacher' plane sort of resembled a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3.
But you never saw who 'The teacher' was has he was suppose to be the enemy but also an 'normal adult'.

Since all the character in the movie has suppose to be Kildren - humanoids genetically engineered in a way that enables to live eternally in adolescence.
But 'The teacher' was suppose to be this veteran pilot who is not a Kildren but a normal adult.

The Teacher is this expert fighter pilot who has taken a lot of lives with this special unique manoeuver that always guarantees a kill shot a point blank range.

The story mainly focuses on pilots and their CO.
But the story also sort of focuses on the new recruit "replacement" who joins the team due to the previous pilot killed.
But also the CO is sort of going a bit crazy over the fact that she might be a Kildren (clone) and also the emotion of losing pilots in battle.

When a clone dies another is just replaced and so the cycle just continues over and over and so the CO pilot emotional turmoil over the fact that the cycle continues.

Its a sad tale of war but also it see's the life of a clones in battle.
The ending is a bit confusing but leaves you thinking are the Kildren just clones of original normal adult fighters.

From 6 December, SBS is having a Miyazaki season. Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo were just some of the movies in the ad.

The only thing I would say that is bad about this is that there all SBS repeats and have been shown many times over before.

I don't think SBS will EVER show Princess Mononoke.
So for some strange reason SBS will only show certain studio ghibli films and will only show the ones that have been on before.
But it's funny Princess Mononoke is Miyazaki film but they STILL WON'T SHOW IT.

I have to say Princess Mononoke or even Tales from Earthsea is the only films I haven't seen yet, but out of all the Studio Ghibli films or Miyazaki films I do like Howl's Moving Castle the best and also Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind which is ok to watch.

But also they could also show Tales from Earthsea film since I read the novel 'A wizard of Earthsea' when I was very young and enjoyed it.

So I wish SBS will get with the program and start showing some new stuff instead of showing repeats.

It may or may not be the case that SBS only needed to pay once to show the selected films and are milking them for their worth.

The Mysterious Cities of Gold is airing on NITV at 7:30AM and repeated at 5PM. The current run-through ends next Wednesday, and it looks like it's going to start over from the beginning the next day. (I looked at their online guide to see if they were going to start showing the second season, but it just had a generic blurb about "the classic '80s animation classic", so I just assumed. Hope to be proven wrong, though.)

The Mysterious Cities of Gold...OMG I haven't seen this show in ages.
I saw the Dvd release and went "wow I never thought I would see a dvd release of this".
Might check it out when it's on...see if it brings back memories.
