Yeah, that was pretty wierd. Not that the series is normal by default, or anything.

There was also the RahXephon reference in Hosts Club 7. Crazy fangirls. Razz

EDIT: Oh god, the Phoenix Wright parody in episode 8 cracked me up. Mr. Green

The two episodes(6 +8 ) were a Meitantei Conan(Case Closed or Detective Conan) reference/parody, also the 22nd of may(eps 8 aired on the 21st) is the birth date of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was the creator of Sherlock Holmes.

Edited.

Yeah, that was pure brilliance, speshli the Edgeworth part.

The next episode is going to be interesting, because there is much speculation that it is only a 14 episode series and they are fast forwarding to Episode 14.

Matthew's Anime Blog wrote:
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu Director Q&A (via MOON PHASE)
To quickly sum up: the broadcast isn't in chronological order because it's somewhat the same way in the novels, and they also wanted to end it with that episode. However, outside of the Mikuru episode, it will be in chronological order on the DVDs. They did "Asahina Mikuru no Bouken" first on purpose -- you'd understand it as the show went along. And "Kotoushoukougun" ("Solitary Island Syndrome") didn't have that much of an ending in the novels so they changed it around. "Someday In the Rain" comes right before Shoushitsu (the 4th volume of the novels) and is the last of the anime episodes (hence episode 14).

The DVD release sounds better already. I had figured they would finish with `that' episode too (ie the end of the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu novel), as it was easily the most dramatic chapter in the first three or four novels. It sounds like the 14 episode rumour is correct, which is quite sad: hopefully after Kanon they will release Suzumiya Haruhi no Tameiki or Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu and continue more of the series.

A little heads up. Looks like the reason episode 9 was, to put it lightly, lacklustre was to make episode 10 f***ing awesome.

Prepare for a f***ing great episode kiddos.

Ep 12 was FANTASTIC!

God knows and Lost my Music are awesome songs. For those who want to know the original singer for the songs her name is Aya Hirano (who actually does the VA for Haruhi i later found out! [amazing!]).

Bouken Deshou Deshou (Opening)
Hare Hare Yukai (Ending)
God knows (ep 12 band song) correct me if im wrong

the OST for suzumiya will be called Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsumeawase (Suzumiya Haruhi the assortment)

Have to agree. The animation quality noticeably jumped when Haruhi was on stage.

ARGH! I fell behind and I'm only up to episode for and all these spoiler warnings are so tempting!

I still have to say this is my favourite out of this seasons, so far. I haven't started Utawaerumono yet, so who knows. I still love the opening to episode 1 most (or is that episode 0?).

The opening episode is 11 :p It is a good episode, but much funnier once you see enough episodes to understand the irony of it.

There are some lackluster filler episodes in the middle, but outside of that it is a quality series. They have to revisit the series after Kanon!

After watching all those clips of people doing the dance, I think my head is going to explode.
I haven't listened to such a cutesy song in a long time.
It makes me want to watch the anime.

Episode 12 was indeed very good.

And total thread hijack, but having read the translated FMP novels that follow on from TSR while further animation would be great to see the series gets too dark for them to either consider it or do it properly I would say.

where they showed a mole on the back of kyon's neck? does anyone know what the significance of that is?, i mean in episode 10(4) there was a mole on mikuru's breast, could there possibly be a link?

Actually, the appearance of older Mikuru isn't hinting to a sequel here. Rather, it has something important to do with episode 14 (6), especially in the little hint that Mikuri gives to Kyon about 'Snow White'

I do not think anything explicitly hints at a sequel. You need to remember that almost every episode has been copied from the light novels, practially verbatim in most cases. The anime covers just less than three novels (in total chapters), and there are eight of them so far: it is no surprise there are a lot of unresolved issues, and hints towards future plot development. These facts alone mean nothing: there are dozens of anime like this that never get their sequel. Given the massive success the series has been, a sequel is highly probable, but plot alone cannot prove anything.

So i finished watching episode 14:

I thought it was great for an anime ending! It tied up most of the loose ends and left me feeling happy and content even though it ended ^_^.

<3 Haruhi.

Definitely up there amongst my favourite anime.

Guess now i'll just wait for a DVD release...

I just wish I'd had the willpower not to read the complete Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu novel when the anime was only up to episode five or so. That said, the ending was still awesomely cute. Especially the last few lines before the 'cut' to the music plays + afterword section.

Even if they were lifted pretty much verbatim, it was lovely to hear them spoken and see them animated. ^^

I'm hoping (and pretty positive) that this series will get picked up - in R1, if Madman don't pick it up themselves, which I'd think they would. It seems to fit into the current demographic of a lot of licensed anime. But this is one I probably won't wait for an R4 of, it'll be one of those that I snap up in R1. Unless Madman announces a release schedule that's only two months or so behind R1. Which doesn't happen often, if I remember correctly.

Here's looking forward to KyoAni's Kanon... and praying for a second season of Haruhi.

Well, according to the most recent issue of Newtype Japan, after its 4 year Monopoly of Most-Popular-Anime in Japan, the Gundam Seed Franchise, along with its Leading Lady Lacus Clyne, has finally been de-throned from the Number 1 Position of most popular Anime and Leading Anime Female by The Melancholia of Suzumiya Haruhi and Haruhi herself respectively.

As the Italians would say to their leading ladies, Brava Singnorina Haruhi, Brava. Wink You are one seriously interesting leading lady.

2525 Posts. Hmm, most auspicious. Hope this luck gets me through tonight/tomorrow-morning's Typhoon in Taiwan....

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to do a scan of the story on Naguru Tanigawa who created The Meloncholy of Haruhu Suzumiya or its japanese name of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Don't think I've gone japanese as I haven't. It's just that I've been delving in some of my old NTUSA's and found this.

Of those who have September 2003 NTUSA, the story is on page 175. It may be easier just to do a link to my photobucket page instead of you all here needing magnifying glasses.

it will throw the "teasers" for the next episode out of whack too.. unless they edit them

personally im in the "I like the out of order storytelling in Haruhi" camp

series ends on a high in the originally aired order.

What Haruhi says goes: it does not matter if Kyon says it is episode 14, if Haruhi says it is episode five, then it is episode five! We all know who wears the omnipotence in that relationship Wink

From what I've heard, they're redoing the next episode previews and having Yuki do the voiceovers for them.

well that would be less confusing for people then..

still, its a shame. I did not think it was 'broke' and needed fixing in the first place.

admittedly I have not watched the series in chronological order yet.. The DVD release will give me a good opportunity to do so I guess.

heh it may actually turn out better this way
though I still feel the last aired episode is going to be hard to beat as a finale
