FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST VOLUME 9: PAIN AND LUST

SYNOPSIS:
Will Ed see Al alive again?

The boys are separated when kidnappers take Al to their hideout, leaving Ed frantic to find his brother. Izumi steps in to help her proteges as always, and finds they've learned something from life she never could have taught them alone: responsibility. Major Armstrong battles Greed's men in the sewers in an attempt to save Al, while up above Ed escapes the military's clutches for a showdown with Greed.

As Lust suggests the battle is part of some larger plan, Greed morphs his body into an impervious shield, and swears Ed must kill him if he wants to see Al again. Lust and Gluttony meet Wrath for the first time and quickly set out on the Elric Brother's trail. Will Ed and Al reach their destination before they're overtaken? And if they do, are the ready for what they'll find?

Contains episodes 33-36:
33. Al, Captured
34. Theory of Avarice
35. Reunion of the Fallen
36. The Sinner Within

Release date: August 16, 2006
Price: $29.95 RRP

This one will be good!
A showdown between Greed and Ed! I love that fight! It's good, particularly the ending.
Can't wait for this one...of course, we've still gotta wait on volume 8, but oh well.
I'm guessing this will get Stickied soon....

It's not "all of a sudden." Fullmetal Alchemist has always been bimonthly. It's just because of Easter that Madman bumped all April releases up to the tail end of March, so as to have two sets of releases in one month.

Think of that as an Easter present from Madman.

About a month till this volume comes out! (gives me time to scrounge up some money). And with the way they left it at volume 8, I can;t wait for this one, even if I've already seen it all!
34 is one of the really good episodes in the series.

... that's like saying you can only eat chocolate at easter.

Who CARES what time of year it is?? Bring 'em on!!

EDIT: I am going to check the post box on the way TO work this arvo. That way, if it has arrived I will get it. Otherwise, since I don't knock off until after the post office has closed, I'd have to wait until Monday. (Which may well end up happening anyway)

ep 35 was odd...but apart from that it revealed a lot of interesting facts, like
How to kill a Homonculus
And the beginning of an important plotline...

Manga spoiler:
In the manga all you have to do is keep killing them. Eventually they stay dead. That's how Mustang killed Lust in the end. Just kept immolating her until she stayed charcoal

madmangohan wrote:

With a spanner! Very Happy

Another manga spoiler:
It was Scar who killed her folks in the manga, and when she found out she actually held a gun out and was seriously considering shooting him (Scar) had Ed not intervened...

I get the impression there are a lot of differences from anime to manga. I haven't read the manga yet. I'm gonna have to just to see what all the spoiler tags are concealing.

There are. It starts out very similar, but it ends up completely different. Two stories with the same characters, talk about value for money! Wink
