I'm not real big on convertibles :/ Though I'ma agree with El here, S2Ks and MX5s looks alot better with hard tops. The MR2S however, looks like crap no matter what.

Same could be said for "feet" but that's just as much bollocks.

I think the pinicle of such class of car would be the Hyundai coupe/tiburon, surely.

An old-man's civic? Wink

Not that I wouldn't take anything over my sheetbox

"Poverty spec". XD

You, sir, win a cookie!

On the subject of the Gallardo spyder; I must say, it is somewhat aesthetically pleasing, however my dislike of convertibles would stop me from owning one (that and the hefty price tag).

The price tag would stop most people buying it. Dammit. :/

My new job make me happy.

New car will make me happier.

Sugestions for something I could like, paint, kit etc, has to be 4cly and cheap to insure. Oh and I have to like it. I was thinking Supra, but the 6cyl 3L has put me off....

Ford Lazer TX3 Turbo AWD would be my recommendation, as late model as possible (1990-91).
That would be the cheapest anyway, move up from there.

EDIT: Naw, scratch that; I saw "paint, kit etc" and the above car looks pretty f-ing boring

I thought finding a good 4cyl would be easy, it's not! Most of them are charades, excels, lasers... not really..cool cars.

You could always just go with a Lancer. I doubt there's a lack of paint/kit options. There might be the issue with liking it, though. Razz I just like the Evo models, so... I dunno. Just a suggestion.

I have a lancer. They're awesome 4 cylinder cars. Good on petrol too. The newer 4 door ones have more powerful 2L engines too, I have a 2003 model and yeah, the 1.8L engine isnt the strongest thing ever.

Has anyone else noticed that SBS has been editing episodes of Top Gear?

Specifically, the "Star in a reasonably priced car" segment has been missing from some of the episodes in the current season.

But why be like everyone else? I've driven a mirage which is similar and couldn't stand it anyway...

Stormo, I noticed, it's not cool.

Indeed I have noticed that. What strikes me as more odd is that they've stopped doing that now, for no particular reason.

You could buy an old Honda integra. I used to own one ... not so powerful, little expensive for what you get, but they hold their value well and they're classy. You can kit 'em too.

Lancers? Cool, good cars? They're like... the bottom of the 4cyl food chain. Anything Corolla or Civic (well, cept the previous gen) will eat them for breakfast in every department. Except for sucking.

At least they're better than Mirages though. This girl I used to work with had a fart cannon on hers. It was absolutely horrible, it sounded like the bowel movements of a pregnant cow. Not to mention the chrome wheels...

each ep goes for just a tad under an hour and sbs doesnt show the full hour and usually cuts something out which has been "star in a reasonably priced car" bit

What are you looking to spend? What purpose do you have in mind for the car? Practical? Performance?

There's heaps of options for 4cyl cars that can have body kits. And not trash like accents with GT wings, or the dreaded, CE lancer with clear tail lights and chrome 15s.

Spend some dollars and get something hard with an SR20 in it. Or if something more practical and cheaper is required, a corolla, civic, or pulsar.

Are you sure that the "Star in a reasonably priced car" segment is meant to be in each episode? The episodes generally go for between 48-50 minutes each and that's standard for an hour long show without add breaks.

Maybe Top Gear don't include that segment in an episode if they have other car news that's more important. I can't see SBS editing a segment like that out of a show for no particular reason, and I can't see whoever holds the license for Top Gear over here allowing them to edit it. Cool

classic shape wrx, end of discussion Razz

but seriously, if your after something with performance and if you can find one that is stock, hasn't seen the track and hasn't been ploughed through several tire barriers you can pick up a really nice car. just have to look alittle harder. but insurance could be a problem Shocked

Every episode since Star in a Reasonably Priced Car started has contained that segment. Both with the Suzuki Liana and the Chevy Lacetti.

So if it's not there, yes, SBS has been editing it.

We didn't get any of them up until Justin Hawkins in the season SBS is showing. We missed out on Christopher Eccleston.

I always fast-forward star in the reasonably priced car, except for the hotlap. The interview is the only section of the whole show that isn't about cars, which is why I watch, to state the obvious.

I recommend you not do that for the first episode of season seven. The celebrity interview there is one of the funniest things I've seen on Top Gear.

The one in Episode Three with "Minister for Speed Cameras" Steven Ladyman is good, too.

Do you know what season we're up to currently? As far as I can tell, I'd say we're about two years behind judging on the models of cars coming out. Question

Season 6, I think. I haven't been watching the SBS broadcast, just been hearing what's on it from others.

Too bad the Mark Webber segment was so short.

This is sad news...

The BBC is reporting that Richard Hammond is in a stable condition after sustaining serious injuries while attempting to break the British land speed record for an episode of Top Gear.

Oh gods, my mother had a Mirage when I started driving. She traded up to a Magna shortly afterwards, thankfully. The Mirage has no guts at all.
However, I really would like to try out a Lancer coupe.

Just an update on Hammond. He's still seriously injured, but his condition is improving. His family have requested that no further details be released at this time, however.

Brain injuries :
Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has suffered a "significant brain injury"

To quote the bbc. The doctors expect him to recover.
