We do not have 3 Musketeers, Herscheys (I think?) or Jolly Ranchers.

This thread fails here.

We have plenty of chocolatey goodness. Just not certain kinds that you have.

Yeah. I've had Hersheys. And reeces peice and peanut butter cups. From America. And the peanut butter M&M's.

And they were horrible, foul tasting, overly sugar filled pieces of crap.

For some reason the convenience store near my apartment imports most of its chocolates - which means they not only have Hershey Bars and Butterfingers, but also US versions of Mars, Twix and M&Ms.
I'd just like to say American chocolate is crap. It tastes like cardboard rubbed in dirt and for some reason it manages to not only taste awful, but is also worth more calories.

www.usafoods.com.au is a good site to buy all the imported candy and other food goodness

Plus they have an entire category devoted to POPTARTS!!

Someone once told me that this was because some of the chocolate types we use here are considered carcinogenic by the FDA. TimTams can't be sold in the US for this reason, apparently.

They are sold in the US though, just not as common and they also sell under a different brand/name as well

Though that carcinogenic thing holds as much truth as vegemite being banned as well due to the folate or whatever being too high or something.

American candy makes my teeth go owwie =(

Our candy is packed full of sugar but it's like american candy adds even more then they should.
I talked to one australia who lives in America (who was on vacation at the time I was talking to him) and complained that American food was all sugar and crap XD!
Then he wondered why idiotic statistics show that Australia is the fatest country in the world.
I think that's bull...At least we're sane enough to not make crap like...Deep Fried Coca Cola?
Yuk!
Though, I do love pop tarts =)!

In my defence, the guy that told me this also believes that fluoridating water is a government mind-control project.

I think even remember they had fried ice cream or something crazy like that also once.

They have too much indulgence in experimentation.

You can find deep fried Ice Cream at a huge number of Chinese restaurants.

True. But the others I mentioned are. I mean, they might as well call it peanut and sugar butter, or just sugar butter.

Lol, that kind of reminds me of schoolies, where we had pancakes for breakfast one morning, and a mate had a Maxibon that he bought and put in the freezer, so we thought it would be a good idea to make one big pancake and wrap it around the Maxibon. He felt pretty sick afterwards, but looked good, unlike this sausage thing.

Some of the American basic chocolate stuff we don't get over her is alright.
But for instance Butterfingers despite being nice, are also a bit much.
(if anyone here has ever tried one, you'ld know what I mean)

Peanbut Butter M&Ms are something I like though for one instance.

Fitness for purpose, IIRC.

McDonalds, he argued, presented their product not merely as food but as everyday food. He purchased the food, as everyday food, in the belief that it was sold as everyday food and that it was fit for the purpose of everyday food.

Essentially no different to buying a "car" that has a top speed of 10km/h; it's fit for some purposes, but not for the purpose for which you want to use it and for which it was sold to you.

It's a decent case. Can't remember whether it worked or not; it'd depend on details of the advertising and whether you could demonstrate that it was being presented as something that was fit to eat every day. Which would be hard but not impossible; consider their breakfast advertising in particular.

All this is off the top of my head, though.

This is pretty much the premise of the documentary "Supersize Me", too.
