I would just like to say, the new opening is epic, and is the greatest opening of anime in the recent years.

Just started reading the manga, and the art style and story are great! Definitely checking out the anime. But Kappei Yamaguchi??? He's Inuyasha's voice actor..for Light that's a bit weird.

I just have to say, the new opening is trippy and definately one of my least favourite OPs in the history of anime.

Maybe I might warm up to it but I really liked the old Nightmare OP.

The new OP gives me Gankutsuo flashbacks. In my case, that's not a good thing.

I guess the new OP & ED would be great for metal or death metal fans but I'm just not fond of the death metal screaming.

I was worried too, but he does an excellent job, sounds nothing like the normal voice he uses.

Who's the artist? And screaming is pretty normal in J-Rock so... might not be so death metal.

Artist is "MAXIMUM THE HORMONE" and the song is called "What's up, People". Forget what the ED is called but it is one of theirs as well.

Hmm, I just wiki'd them and it's says they're a J-Rock band so you're right. Apparently their influences include Red Hot Chili Peppers and System of a Down.

The ED is called "Zetsubou Billy" and although I don't like the song, the PV is pretty cool though.

EDIT: Oh yeah and Nao (Drums/Vocals) is meant to be hawt...or so I've been told.

Never heard of them before. o___O Must be an unknown, unlike Nightmare who were still popular before hitting Death Note.

Kappei Yamaguchi plays L. Light is done by Mamoru Miyano, Tamaki from Ouran.

Don't underestimate his voice talent. He does an absolutely brilliant job of doing "L", and I am not being bias here either.

Some VAs' do excellent jobs for different characters, even if they are only recognizable for one certain series. Smile

I will agree with the new OP being VERY different. Shocked I much prefer the first one.

The Zawa one, it's full title is something like Zawa ... Z ... Zawa (and repeat at nauseum), came out 2005 if memory serves me correctly.

I'm a fan of MAXIMUM THE HORMONE (well ever since ROLLING1000tOON hit GuitarFreaks umm 11th mix if memory serves me correctly back in 2004) so it was a blast to see their singles used as opening and ending themes to Death Note.

EDIT: Just checked out the Zetsubou Billy PV, man I was scared at first that MAXIMUM THE HORMONE went visual kei on me, but glad the actual band made their appearance towards the end. And wow their drummer has lost weight since I last saw her in a PV, that or it's a differerent drummer.

I didn't really like the new OP/ED at first, but I kind of got used to it [after watching the episode 20 times Laughing] But I still like the first OP/ED better. Nightmare is my favourite band though, so I may be a little biased

there was a bit of a fuss about this series so i decided to read some of the manga (anime is hard for me to get a hold of) out of curiosity more than anything else, wasnt really expecting much,

DAMN!

to understand the effect of those mere 4 chapters ive read, just take a look at my sig

cant wait to finish the manga, see the series and watch the movies, maybe i should put the movies in my sig aswell, thou i dont want it to explode :p

never heard of Kappei Yamaguchi before (thou ive only seen inuyasha dubbed and have no intention of watching it subbed)

finally, in response to the first post, fillers r evil, they killed samurai X!!! (soz, forget what it was actually called)

To know that we must first know an exact date for the US release and an exact date for an Australian release. As we have neither it's a little hard to say at the moment.

P.S. Proper punctuation and capital letters are your friends.

Honestly, I like the music, and the animation is pretty good, but it's (and I've only seen the first couple of episodes), very slowly moving at the moment. I'm enjoying the manga much more.

They better pick good voice actors for it...

If the japanese version is so good, then keep watching the Japanese version and not care about the english version. It's really pretty simple.

Yeah, but I like it in both versions. English is easier, particularly with a series that has so much dialogue, you don't have to concentrate on reading subtitles.

Yeah tony's been slow with the anime lately.

I just hope they don't twist the plot too much so that it lasts longer..

There is only one word to describe episode 25: Epic.

It must be said though that L rocks. Even when he's dying. Possibly the only character who can be that awesome while having a heart attack.

I have been watching some eps of Death Note here and there, but I prefer watching them on DVD. Tell me...does madman EVER plan on getting the rights to the anime? And what about the live action movie? I watched a trailer, and got to admit...it looks pretty damn sweet. I wanna know when we're getting the anime, and the live action movie.

Thx,
