I'm talking about between NTSC and PAL. VideoGamesPlus keeps a blog with all the newest stock that arrives, telling you whether the new games are region free or not.
Most games are region free apart from EA, 2K and Capcom titles.

Well, the whole multiple disc thing for the 360 happened a LOT sooner than I expected it to. I'm not trying to make a big issue out of something so trivial, I just thought it'd take a few years before the 360 needed to use multiple discs.

Quote:

Speaking to Famitsu, in an interview partly translated by IGN, Sakaguchi also said that Japanese RPG fans who buy Blue Dragon can look forward to free downloadable content in the first few months of next year.

The first game is now finished, he revealed, and will ship on three DVDs - uncompressed, it actually takes up a whopping 30GB of disk space.

Microsoft has yet to reveal when Blue Dragon will be released in the west.

30 Gigs, I wonder what's taking up all the space. I can't wait for it to be released in Australia.

I just got my 360 today so maybe later when my girlfriend is done fiddling. She's going to have a turn at DOA4 then we'll probably watch some more Farscape before I get a chance to play. Embarassed

Gamer tag is Kermitron, by the way.

Some game demos clock in at over a gigabyte.

MS are planning to offer movies and music over Live as well, which would make a 20GB HDD seem a little inadequate.
After downloading updates and importing two Live profiles, we're down to 12.5 gigs. I think I'll avoid downloading game demos or music for the time being.

I finally got around to playing Gears of War. It is kicking some major ass so far, and hopefully I can wrest control of the 360 away from my girlfriend long enough to get a little further into the game before I have to sleep tomorrow night. I'm going to need my practice before going online with my bad self.

I was worried the game was overhyped, and I'm sure about a year from now people will look back at Gears of War with the same disdain/snobbery as many people look at Halo now - but I don't care. The game rocks.

Halo 2 is one of the most played games online on the 360, pretty impressive for a game not even made for the 360....
There is an alarming trend at the moment to 'rebel' and dislike something purely because it's popular. Yet another case of conformity by non-conformity.

I just ordered Mr Monkeys Xbox 360 the ultimate gaming pack...the one with DOA 4 and PGR, for chrissy. I was also sizing NFS Carbon too. Anybody got this already?....And what it's like? The little bit I saw on telly with the cars drifting had Mr Monkey nearly wetting himself Laughing

He really thinks he is getting a PS2...more fool him >_<

According to all the hip kids in the games recommendation thread who've already clocked NFS: Carbon, it was fun but a bit too short.

I'm not that big a fan of NFS anyway - or racing games in general, for that matter.

I've heard the same thing, it looks to be only a reworking of most wanted and they didn't include drag racing.

I've decided to buy a 360 when Mass Effect comes out. Other than that and Gears I cant think of anything I'd like to play though ... except for Forza and PGR but then I'd have to buy a wheel too ...

If I dont want Xbox live should I just buy a core system?

Only if you can live without Wireless controllers (and honestly, since having them I don't know how I ever did; like tabbed browsing) and want to buy a hard drive seperately, or use a memory unit. You should also get a media remote in the premium pack, though apparently you can actually use the controller for DVD playback, unlike the original XBox which would only accept the remote.
Anyway, if you don't want wireless controllers, you'll just need to by a hard drive or memory unit.
Personally, I think the Massive Entertainment Bundle is the best deal you can do on the console at this point in time - console, 20gig hard drive, two wireless controllers, media remote, DOA4 and PGR3. Less than $700. EB might even let you trade in DOA4 off the price if you're not interested in keeping it (it would count as a preowned trade, not a return though - and I've seen a few copies in the preowned section, so it might not be worth that much anymore).
How much are Core packs, anyway?

Not really seeing as to buy all the extras separately would cost you alot more plus the convenience of wireless controllers and a Hard drive. Mass Effect also looks really good too it's definitely on my to get list.

Best deal yet. For the price of a Premium console a month ago you get an extra wired controller, AV cable (?? why would you need two? how is this different to the one in the bundle?), Kameo, and DOA4.

Now of course this is only a bargain if you actually want the extras. For me personally this is the best package all round, as Kameo and DOA4 would be included in the first games I would chose and I would use the wired controller on my PC as well as the x-360 Smile

DOAX2.. here I come! Very Happy
(the only reason to own an x-360!)

yes, I am aware this is 90% chance of badly proofread advertising, but come on.. it would be asw0me... *sigh*

HeDanny, I would think the Wired controller and the AV cable are the ones from the core pack.... not in addition to it. May need to get a confirmation on that before you get too excited.

yes.. I realised that. Hence the small text Wink

Still.. for bad advertising that is just asw0me. I do not even think the Premium console is a "feature" as stated either. I fully expect that is also just a badly placed comment. This is a core and two games. At least I am 90% that is what it is. I am going to make a call tomorow to my nearest Big-W to confirm. It is going to be a case of "yes that is what it says, but this is what we meant". I just know it.

don't forget you are going to need either a memory card (dont know what the 360 ones are called) or a HDD. I couldn't imagine trying to use a 360 without the HDD honestly.

Yeah, the massive entertainment pack I mentioned is definitely the better deal - 20gig hard drive, two wireless controllers, media remote, and PGR3 instead of Kameo. not that I think Kameo is bad, I'm just pointing out the difference. For $200 more - granted if you can't afford that extra $200 then the entertainment bundle is alright - DEFINITELY need a hard drive though, whether you're planning on using XBox Live or not.

That's the one I got. $696 from EB games.

I might just keep DOA 4 for a little bit, try and beat the heck out of Mr Monkey, who has no fighting skills or "what does this button do?" abilities at all, and trade it in for something reasonable when it comes out.

Although....he would want to keep it for those scantly clad hussies on it Rolling Eyes

Wait until you see Kasumi and Christie's ending cinematics. Shocked

I thought the voice was slightly familiar.
Incidentally, am I the only one who was shocked to discover that Spartan-458 from DOA4 isn't voiced by the same chick who voices Tex in Red vs. Blue?

Thats exactly my point, there is no gameplay. I'd rather watch the porn located on my hard drive.
I'm all for a really good Volleyball game however, DOAX2 is not it though.

Go play Beach Spikers then. Razz

Thing is, I just find the DOAX games to be fun. They're not hard-thinking, heavy hitting games, but if you sit down and take them for what they are, then you'll have fun.

That it's fun dressed up as a bunch of pretty girls playing about on a tropical island just makes it even more awesome.

Who plays any DOA game without the Japanese voices?

And yes, it's definitely been released here, EB had it on the shelves when I went to pay off my Wii preorder.

I was told it was coming out on Thursday, and then I saw it at EB today, so it seems like they've broken release dates for some reason.

I kinda liked the Japanese speaking characters speaking Japanese and the English speaking characters speaking English ect. Rather than everybody speaking the same language.
Imo, Dennis Rodman's voice really suited Zack in DOA XBV

It's EB, they don't need a reason.... The fine for breaking a street date (The less common punishment) is petty cash to them, and noone is gunna deny them the next exclusive release (The more common punishment) due to their immense buying power Confused

EB rarely breaks the street date unless by accident, ie: some n00b clerk sees the game on the shelves and sells it to someone without thinking to check, and shortly thereafter, loses their job. It's more than likely that someone else broke street date and EB followed suit. It's usually Toys 'R' Us - not because they're trying to get a head start on the market, but because they're god damn idiots and put any old crap on the shelves as soon as it's delivered.

I'd like to mention at this point that I might just be the worst DOA player in the world. My first venture into the world of online play did not go as planned Sad

...Yeah. Makes my measly 1400-odd look pretty bad. Confused

So I keep getting disc read errors at random dates. Should I send it in for repair or just put up with it? Got the 360 in March.

If it's happening across many games, and your discs are in good condition, I'd be reporting the problem to MS and seeing if you can't get your 360 replaced.

i'd send it back. what did you pay for it? $500.00 + ? for that kind of money it should work without problems.

my x360 started giving me the 3 lights of death after having it for a few weeks. now that is bullcrap. for the price of the machine, you would think that MS could make it so it works properly. so i phoned them up and demanded thay fixed it, which, 3 days later they sent me a sticker for postage paid and their adress. after cocooning it in bubble wrap and throwing it in a box, i sent it off. now i'm just waiting for it to come back.

it'd better be fixed this time, otherwise i'll send it back again and again until they fix it properly.

Apparently most people who send their units off to get fixed actually wind up with replacement units.

I hope you kept the hard disk.

They send a new hard disk out with the new console? Eww. Thanks for the tip. You know, just in case.

I don't know. I'm just suggesting to hold on to your HDD before you send the machine off.
