I've been trying to track down a copy of the Samurai 7 OST for a few weeks now, and finally found one on eBay from a seller called 'motionland' (this was all before I found out which record labels did bootlegs).

So I received the CD today, firstly noticed the dodgy back cover printing, but thought that maybe its just one of those official productions that didn't have any budget. So I stick the CD on, and by track 10 it had frozen up!! I've tried ripping it to my computer and to my laptop, but all I got was errors!!!

The worst thing is I went and left the guy positive feedback before I even opened the CD. I never do that! I've emailed him asking for a refund and how it stinks that he does bootleg products, but I'm not expecting much since we can rightfully claim that the transaction is completed, but that's the last time I buy from a Hong Kong store.

Don't tell me eBay is dodgy, coz I use it all the time to both buy and sell. It's just a shame that there's a few sellers who take advantage of it to move their dodgy wares.

Freakin' waste of $15 that I could have used during the sale though!!!!!!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

So the moral of the story, if anyone wasn't already aware of these labels - Beware any OST on Miya Records or Alion Records, and beware buying anime products in general off eBay. I've noticed a few sellers are el'dodgé when it comes to anime on eBay...

So, does anyone know a legit place I can order the Samurai 7 OST from?

Yep, MIYA and Alion are both bootleg labels and must be avoided.

Other than that, all I can say is don't buy from EBay. Try places like CDJapan or even Play-Asia for legit anime music.

Yeah, use YesAsia. Good prices usually, shipping isn't too overboard either. Lots of payment methods too

Shipping is free if you spend over $50, so, yeah.

Really? Even to Australia? I have ordered from there before, so I might give them a go.

Yeah. I just ordered Kirby DS and Yaida Hitomi - Here today, Gone Tomorrow. Cost me $90 for the items, and nothing for the shipping.

Nice. I bought the score to The Promise by Klaus Badelt from YesAsia, so I'm familiar with the site, but didn't know about the shipping. Thanks!

I know that the majority of people who have posted are well aware of
the main companies that are known for producing bootlegged anime cds,
but for those who are unsure about whether they own or about to buy a
bootlegged cd, i have provided a link to a FAQ page from an online store
below. PLEASE READ QUESTION 6 as it contains invaluable information,
listing the companies names and also their logos/symbols. When i was a
newbie to bootlegs, finding this information saved me from wasting good
money on inferior products.

I also know from experience, as many of you do that the market
has been flooded with these bootlegged copies by these companies,
almost every anime cd that i have ever viewed on Ebay has been a
bootleg, and there are many stores, as well as the website TAMARKET
that sell them, i hope this helps : )

The only bootlegs that Tamarket sells are the ones found under the "Anime Music CDs" link.

That was a very interesting link, thanks! I didn't know that about Taiwan not being part of the copyright agreement. It explains a lot, and why the guy I bought the Samurai 7 OST off kept saying 'but its from Taiwan.' Just because Taiwain can't be bothered signing the agreement, doesn't mean its a legitimate disc! Unfortunately, they've been doing it for so long that I doubt it'll ever change. The Taiwan government probably gets a decent kick back from these kinds of things and they'd be reluctant to give that up...

That FREAKIN' annoys me! If people want it that bad, you might as well put the actual price of the product on there. This happens even with some legit sellers I've bought from. People these days aren't so ignorant of the postage costs that they'd be duped into something like that. Plus it makes that company look super-dodgy. If I was trying to flog bootleg or dodgy products, I'd be trying to make them look as legit as possible.

Actually, it's more an attempt to rip off eBay rather than the buyer. Because eBay's seller fees are not calculated on postage, only on the item price.

But yeah - dodgy... Confused

No, no, no, you misunderstand. They have a bunch of CD sections. One for J-Pop, one for singles, one for official US/Japanese albums and maybe more. They also have one called "Anime Music CDs", that is the only part of their CD section which sells bootlegs.
