Could anyone give me a list of Japanese bands they enjoy? I really like Japanese music, but am unsure of what is good.

Care to elaborate? "Japanese music" covers an awfully large amount of genres. It's about as meaningful as... well, something like "I really like American music".

Two Japanese bands I know only from their excellent anime themes:

Asian Kung-Fu Generation. Performed the fourth Fullmetal Alchemist opening theme, "Rewrite", and the second Naruto opening theme, "Haruka Kanata."

Bivattchee. Performed the third Eureka Seven opening theme, "To the Center of the Sun."

If Deerhoof count, then so does Cibo Matto.

Incidentally, the new Miho Hattori solo record is pretty good.

I used to give her the love. I've seen her in concert 2.5 times... but her stuff nowadays just isn't doing it for me.

2.5 times? Is there a hilarious story behind the '.5'?

I got here today, gone tomorrow for Christmas. Loved it. I was going to get the 'Live MTV Performance' album, but it was only 8 tracks, so I passed on it.

No hilarity, unfortunately Razz I saw her live over 2 weekends in Osaka: once at Osaka Banpaku Kouen, which is where the World Fair was held years and years ago, and the following weekend in the grounds of Osaka Castle. They filmed the one at Osaka Castle for TV and because I was front and centre theres a lovely headshot of me.

The .5 comes from the "secret" live she did on her birthday in 2004. She did a small acoustic set of 3 or 4 songs outside in a shopping area of Osaka. I say it's a .5 because it doesn't really match up to the full concerts I saw Very Happy

I prefer her earlier stuff. Candalize and the album after that. I still enjoy her music when I hear it or something, but not as much as I used to.

Megamasso are the new band of Ryouhei, the guitarist from Ayabie.

LM.C are great! Upbeat rocking Oshare Kei, with a bit of rap here and there (like Rock the LM.C). Their latest album, Glitter Loud Box, came out last week!

Maya, the vocalist. He used to be in Miyavi's band, but don't hold that against him! Very Happy

Another good band: lynch. They're pretty cool hard rock/metal visual kei, they sort of remind me of a less-heavier more melodic version of slipknot. Not as much screaming though. But they're nagoya kei, underground stuff.

Sad news - Aikaryu is disbanding. Sad Sad The drummer never fully recovered from the car accident the band was in, so instead of replacing him they decided to end the band.
