This will be an ongoing list of stores that stock Madman Anime DVDs and manga. If you find a store that stocks it please feel free to add to this thread.

Please keep in mind that we will remove any posts that are unrelated to the topic and also any double ups. Don't post any stores that we have already posted and we will also remove stores that are known to be selling bootlegs.

In general you will be able to find anime at these locations nationwide.

JB Hi-Fi Located in many city locations and also growing ever so rapidly in the suburbs. Check here for a list of stores - http://www.jbhifi.com.au/stores/store_selector.php

Borders Not just a book store, but also an anime AND manga destination. Borders book stores are located in many city locations as well as a growing number of suburban ones. Click here for a list of stores - http://www.bordersstores.com/features/world.jsp?file=au_stores

Independent Anime/Comic Book stores. There are plenty of these around everywhere even in country areas, seek them out and they will be your new best friend J

Ezy DVD Another great DVD outlet, they also have a growing range of stores. They also have an online store.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/stores.zml

Although it may seem unattractive to a lot of people internet ordering is also a great alternative.

Madman.com.au of course! We offer many forms of payment including credit card, b-pay and money order. So you dont even need a credit card to order from us. www.madman.com.au/anime/

Atlantic DVD www.atlanticdvd.com.au They even have their own anime section

Big W, Target and Myer have some. K-Mart had a few when I worked there in 2004.

But Dymocks has a lot. More than EzyDVD.

For those in or near bendigo theres the cool guy at Family videoland in Kangaroo Flat who if you ask nicley i'm sure he'll order stuff in for you.
Also a new store called Good&Evil which sell anime, comics, and other cool stuff. Its in killians walk right next to esdens music (Damn its gonna be harder for me to get that new guitar!!! Wink )
Target, Big W and Sanity sell a very, very tiny amount of anime. I think with those places though (sanity may order stuff in) it pretty much the luck of the draw in what you get.

Cheers, Guys.

You can also order them through their outlets too - they said that they don't stock them in most of their stores but can get them ordered in if you request it Smile

A&R can be a little overpriced at times though.

Dymocks are another one. And they actually stock manga instore. Wink

EDIT:
Shin Tokyo Adelaide
Silly me forgot them. Probably because I've never actually been in there before. I think I walked past...once...

Games Exchange in Townsville, North Queensland. With what I read about EB this is pretty much the only place you can get anime reliably here. They've always had the best range anyway. Kmart/Big W/Target have always been crap when it comes to anime.

Very Happy If in Darwin, NT:

1. Comics NT (best selection of DVD's and manga)
2. Jb Hifi
3. Ezy DVD

There are other places too, but if you can't find it at those three you will need to start searching the net or order from interstate i.e. Shin Tokyo or Pulp Fiction in Adelaide.

As far as department stores such as Myer, kmart and whatnot it depends on where you live and may be more common in areas closer to capital cities.

Last time i checked Harvey Norman sells anime dvds, at RRP which is what eB Games does. The one here has a decent stock and has a fair bit of older stock as well a few months back at least anyway

Books Kinokuniya , Level 2, The Galeries Victoria, 500 George Street, Sydney 2000.

Huge bookstore with massive range of English, Japanese and Chinese manga/artbooks at relatively cheap prices.

Good range of Madman DVD's too.

chaos.com

I ordered my Bebop and Berserk collections off of there... Hmmm.. not bad, delivery is a bit slow and what they advertise isn't what they usually sell.

and has anybody mentioned ebay? I just ordered a genuine GTO boxset for $100 with free postage and you can usually find great deals. But you gotta check their feedback, if it's like 96%, stay the hell away!

I got the impression last time I was in Minotaur that they were a little bit pricey. Most of their DVD's were at RRP or higher that I looked at. Same with their paperback books and stuff. It has been about 18 months since I was last there though..

cheers
John

Minotaur do tend to charge an arm and a leg for DVDs, but their books and manga aren't that bad. In fact, they sell manga cheaper than Borders do.

from what i know of, Cartoongallery.com.au and tamarket.com.au do but they charge an arm, a leg and your first born if you wanted a dvd from them >.>;

have you ever thought of signing up with online banking with your bank? most sites places do have direct deposit or a few even do bpay, and its a whole deal easier than having to do the money order thing

In Cairns there are a few choices, though they're all pretty limited.

Target are alright, though they only really carry well known anime such as FMA, Naruto etc. Though I did get all three Gunslinger Girl volumes there.

HMV is probably the best, they can order stuff in etc. I bought all of desert punk there.

EB games has a small selection.

That's all I can think of atm.

Wow! Sight & Sound have anime. There are only some of these scattered around Queensland, but I believe there are more opening up around Australia. They're not great, but it's one of the better options near where I live.

Except that JB Hifi has now opened. Very Happy

EB Games management Say's Anime isn't profitable that's why they stopped selling it. But they do take orders for it at some store's.

But Border's has a huge range of Manga, i go there a lot, plus i buy my anime at JB HIFI and WOW sight & Sound

Just thought id mention this in relation to online orders,

do yourself a favour and get a VISA debit card it works of your own money and if your a student i'm pretty sure it only costs $3 a month otherwise its $6 also if your not 18 you can still get a card its just that the account is in your mothers/fathers name and your a listed card holder, even though you are the only one using the account generally. (this was how i originally had my online ordering system set up, and i haven't yet encountered an issue)

Last tine I checked it didn't cost anything...except if you used it that is. I'm pretty sure there's no fee for me to have my debit card.

For those living in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, Gamemania in Ringwood are expanding their anime coverage. They sell DVDs and some merchandise at the moment, and if this proves popular, they will be expanding their range in a fairly significant way.

They also plan to get into more import games and whatnot. If you live in the east, then show your support for their direction by going down and checking it out.

The store is over the road from Eastland, in the group of shops that runs underneath the library.

DISCLAIMER: I'm good friends with the guys that run Gamemania (and you can quite often find me in the store.)

Hey can some one give me a list of anime stores in and around sydney?
I know very well of Kinokuniya and Kings Comics but are there any other stores that actually sell merchandise as well as DVDs etc?
