I disagree, just watched it and thought it was exceptional. The animation seemed slightly different than most of the other episodes, especially the opening scenes. Bradley seemed to be drawn in a darker style.

If there is anyone who doesn't watch all of the OP's and the ED"s make sure to watch the ED for this episode rather than skip it as the epsiode kind of continues through the credits at the end.

Have been waiting to see the Armstrong situation animated and finally got to see it today Very Happy

Once again I agree with you Travku. This moves the story along building towards another peak which I'm sure will again blow us all away.
The Armstrong sequence is a cracker!
I've said before that I was disappointed how the first 13 eps established this series (as opposed to the original) but that's the only criticism I have for Brotherhood. It's my absolute favorite anime.
Does anyone have any news on the English dub, and for that matter when a local release is probable?

All the major talaent of the original series are back. One obvious change was the voice for Al, as the original actor's voice broke.

As for a local release, look for it a few months after the first US release in April. (At the earliest.)

Read the thread titled "How many episodes in the R1 FMA : BH DVD/Blu-Ray set?"

They're releasing five sets, of about 13 episodes per set, on both DVD and Blu-ray.

EDIT - just checked the Amazon link in the above-named thread, and its released in May. So no sooner than July for Madman release.

That's quick. I suppose the licensing from the get-go has allowed the time to build up your own materials, rather than wait for the NA materials.

Excellent. Very Happy You do realise that you are now putting yourself in the postion where we are going to start looking for this every Thurday from now on? Razz

Edit: Just watched it then, another awesome episode! I've only read up to V20 of the manga so this is new material for me, I'm guessing that this covers part of V21?

Things are moving along at a pretty quick pace, it's seems as though it is building up to the finale so I wonder if that estimated 63 episodes is going to be the actual total for the series.

I know this is late but episode 45 had one of the best endings yet. Everything seems to be coming together for its finale. The credits were an awesome way to end the episode, and the ED song Shunkan Sentimental just seemed to fit perfectly. I love watching that particular ED over and over again.

Episode 47 is up... today... could it been up yesterday ? That's the mystery.

My favourite character returns at the end of this ep too. Smile

Oh damn you're right, it was Pride cause Greed left the group.

Oh well, why don't we get you to do the translation! HA! ah stuff it, it'll be fixed for the dvd release.

Besides it's all about the return of the most awesomeness character at the end. Mr. Green

I noticed that little error too, the Japanese for Pride sounds very similar to the English though so I don't think it's going to confuse anyone.

Was another terrific episode, the character at the end who you are referring to is not someone I had expected to see and certainly not with such an awesome entrance as that! Very Happy

My bad, I should have said the Japanese pronounciation is similar, when they are talking about Pride it sounds like "Prida".

Oh noes.. what have I done, I've destroyed the viewer's mind - Is it Pride? Is it Greed? Is it in Japanese? Is it in English? It's all over, worlds are colliding.

I have to say that the music in this episode was absolutely fantastic. Of course, the episode as a whole was also fantastic, but the music was just incredible. Maybe I haven't been paying too much attention to the music before, or I'm getting used to the music for this series at last.

Episode 48 is up, it would've been earlier but we had trouble with the encoding side, something blew up I think. We did meet the Friday deadline though.

The original FMA series ended after 51 episodes and here we are, in anticipation of the exciting story ep 50 will tell.
For 12 months we've had the good fortune to see this wonderful anime. I expected and dreaded there'd be a hiatus period of some months, but apart from a couple missed weeks due to Japanese holidays or whatever, it's been a clear run, sometimes getting the episode early like today. So thank you Madman! Thank you Sakuya! I can't wait for each episode to be posted in the Screening Room and I can't wait to get my own High-def Blu-ray copies.

This episode brought us into the first chapter of volume 23, chapter 92, just barely. Flipping through volume 23, I'm quite excited about what is to come - if I'm guessing correctly episodes 53-54 will be brilliant.

I'm enjoying the new opening theme, but I still think Golden Time Lover is my favourite. This one feels very different when I think about the material its going to cover. There's a nice little spoiler (or what I interpret to be a spoiler) there that I think is quite clever, but maybe I'm just being overly fanboy about the whole thing.

With this episode, Brotherhood is now the same length as the original series (ignoring the OVAs and what have you).

I've just watched episodes 1 to 4, and I'll watch a few more tonight. I'm starting a marathon to catch up.

Watched up to episode 40 now. Well past where I stalled, earlier. Another 5 or 6 tonight.

I'd like to ask if the subtitles are going to be more consistent on DVD/Blu-ray? So far, Ishval/Ishbal alternate, even within an episode. I know B and V are like L and R in Japanese, the representation for both sounds when transliterated is the same (or whatever you call it).

Then there's mum/mom. Most of the time it's "mum," but occasionally, such as ep 39, I think, "mom" is used.

Anyway, I'm greatly enjoying the series. I know the beginning was comparatively rushed, but looking back, I think had they spent more time on it, as in the first series, or even just like the manga, I think it would have been too slow.

No actually the subtitles are going to be worst, I'm going to rename Ed to "The Tragic Man" Elric (actually that's kinda fitting with the missing arm and the bodyless brother). Sometimes it's "mum" and sometimes it's "mom" depending if I feel "american" on the day. Other times I'm just rushing through it and just puting in whatever comes in my head (Ishbal and Ishval are just next door to each other, it's like Shelbyville and Springfield).

I will also endevour to put in random words in every second to third line, just random words from any language. Consider it to be a special easter egg just for you guys.

The ones that I do for the web are a bit rushed and I usually don't have time to go back and check all it, I'm usually more concerned about the translation, making it so that you guys can understand what's going on. It's only one person subbing it each week, so I have a tight time frame.

It will be fixed, clean and neat for all home release versions.

So Sakuya, does this mean the subs that will appear on the Madman DVD/BD release will be as translated and put together by you? If so, does this mean the US versions will also be yours or do they do their own thing?
Whatever your answer, I have found your work very easy to follow and enhancing the experience.
I'm bilingual myself, English/Greek. I know there are instances when a direct translation doesn’t really work or exist, and it goes beyond getting the meaning across as you're having to also ensure the dramatic or comic integrity of the scene is maintained.
I've said it before; you do a great job and thank you for it.

It will more that likely be the US translation (the US have their own translations), it should be (well I hope so) better edited (spelling, grammatical, etc), also saves us the time and trouble of fixing what we have here.

The translations I've worked on will probably be only used as a fall back, they've served their purpose and that's to provide you guys with the weekly web episodes.

So look forward to the home release later this year. Smile

Episode 52 is up ... go go go...

Looks like I got given the new US scripts for the home release, so I will be subbing the home release as well (first 13 episodes).

If anything goes wrong subs for the home release... do what we do here Madman... blame Sly! Smile

Just watched episode 52 then, always a pleasant surprise when it is up earlier than expected. Pretty awesome episode in terms of action and the preview for next week looks terrific too. Can't believe it has now been over a year since this was started (I think there has been two weeks when it wasn't aired), that time has flown by.

I like the new OP but I am not up to date with the manga so don't know what is happening next, it seems as though they are trying to capture a certain theme which looks impressive to me and the music seems better now that I've heard it a couple of times.

Do you have the authority to make minor changes to the translation if you don't like the US script, or must you keep to the script?
Also, are you allowed and if so, will you correct spelling from US to Australian English (eg; Colour rather than Color)?
I've said elsewhere I don't like the forced English lyrics over the Openers and Closers when I've selected English Audio without Subs but with Signs. Others may disagree but I think it looks sloppy to have subs over opening and closing titles. Do you think Madman management would consider keeping the non-sub option clear of lyric subs? Perhaps if included, the clean opening and closing titles could also operate with optional subs for lyrics.
Thanks for the heads up on Ep52.

I saw the new OP last week, and it's pretty awesome. I don't expect a new set of song, given how the OP seemed to suggest certain things.

Do you have the authority to make minor changes to the translation if you don't like the US script, or must you keep to the script?

If need be (which I'm pretty confident it doesn't) I'll make any changes.

I'm allowed to make the changes and I probably will - JUST FOR YOU!

That I can't help you, the project manager has given me the word that they want the opens and ends must be included in the signs track - hey I'm going through editing for the aussie spellings so don't be so greedy.
