It was part of the keyart we received. I decided to use this one as it conveyed a more true to movie type of image. Fingers Crossed the producers are ok with it.

It's definitely a very nice cover!!!
Fingers crossed you get the go a head for it... Fight for dear life to obtain permission!

Yeah looks pretty good, but i think ill still get AoA's two sets, only because with Madman releasing 6 volumes it will take forever for them to be released (like 1 volume a month or longer?)

Damn i wish i waited on getting sengoku basara as well, ive already bough season 1 and 2. Might just go ahead and buy this one for the hell of it though.

Correct 1 volume a month, but $24.95 per vol and $29.95 per vol for BD.

I forgot that Blue Exorcis was going to get a boxset release and bought to collections for it recently. Guess I will watch it and decide if its worth double dipping for since the art looks nice so far.

I quite like those FMA boxsets, but I already have the first Brotherhood box (OVA+box) released.

Might consider the Kenshin box though, I've been meaning to give that series a try.

Oh nice, will get the Rurouni Kenshin Deluxe Complete Series Collection (TV, Ova, Movie)

I wonder if those are the prequel or sequel OVAs that are included (or both)

Are the OVA(s) and movie the previously released Samurai X-titled releases, or have you got your hands on the Rurouni Kenshin-titled video?

Madman, you say your boxset sales aren't that great. Thus why you stopped releasing so many... Yet you release ONE series... ONE seires... Different box. Multiple times. What do you expect? This is directed at FMA Brotherhood, did you guys overestimate the projected sales or something?

We are releasing FMA Brotherhood this way because this is the only way we can release a Blu-Ray version of it as a boxset. We heard many fans wanted to buy a boxset for this series so we're giving you guys what you want.

We stopped doing boxsets for MOST series' because it was getting expensive to do so. For certain shows however we will still do them if they are released as volumes or for some of the more popular shows.

Costs to do boxsets are still a lot higher, and when you can't sell through a minimum order of these it makes business sense to not do them. But where it does make sense, we're more than happy to be able to cater to you the fans.

I don't think I'll ever get used to these shortened names...ie Haganai, I just don't get it. D:

Boxsets look nice...at the moment I'm not so much a fan that I'd buy the Blue Exorcist box but it still looks nice.

I'm also curious as to what the staff here think of 3rd party boxes. Do you disapprove of them or just don't care about their existence?

Totally digging that Kenshin boxset, will have to make an effort to buy it.

Blue Exorcist one doesn't look too bad either.

Sylontack wrote:

It's an awesome series, while the 3rd season is the weakest of the 3 as it was a catchup filler season but a 4th season never happened. It's definitely worth the watch.

I haven't seen this posted.

From the item page:

Quote:

Season 1 broadcast order episodes
Textless songs
TV broadcast previews & promo spots
Making of Haruhi Suzumiya clips
Aya Hirano's Nekoman gallery
Location scouting videos
Behind the scenes of Aya Hirano's music video
Endless Eight prologue
Special Event Video
Background music recording with Australia's EMINENCE Orchestra
Special screening in Tokyo & Kyoto
Cutting, Dubbing & Editing featurette

It's 12 discs, so I assume it's seasons 1 & 2 and the movie, with no Haruhi-chan.

EDIT - I was counting season 2 as four discs, but it's three. So, maybe Haruhi-chan? How many DVDs is the movie?

Season 1 6 discs
Season 2 3 Discs
Movie 2 discs
haruhi-chan 2 discs

So 13 in total. 12 discs of episodic / movie content. 1 extras disc from the movie.

Will change it to 13 to reflect the actual disc count Smile

Besides the blu-ray quality, the orchestral concert makes the Japanese blu-ray box set more desirable.

I bought season 1, then the Japanese box set which was 38000 yen (about $432 now plus shipping) from CD Japan. Depending how I look at it, it was either the best anime purchase I made, or the start of making lots of trips to Japan.

The movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya isn't in the Japanese blu-ray box set but is worth getting in blu-ray from Madman anyway.

FYI we have reviewed the pricing and will be changing the Haruhi Boxset to $149.95 SRP. The change should come through overnight.

Definitely getting that Totoro set even if it isn't part of my "collect all the Ghibli BDs from Japan" plan.
Also It's good to see we're getting the same style of releases as the U.S. with Guilty Crown and Future Diary.
Does anyone at Madman know if the artbook (assuming it stays a part of the set) will be the same as one of (if not a compilation of both of) the Funimation ones? Those are nice and very large, which also makes the box bigger which makes the box look nicer on the shelf Razz

Its great to see all these box sets showing up again. Totoro's looks very nicely designed. Loving the Samurai Pizza Cats design too, looks nicer than the American release, why two sets tho?

If your hovering around Sly, do you know if the OVA's with the Kenshin set will be the newer directors cut versions or the previously released original ones? Also thanks for doing a season set release for Transformers Animated from myself and other fans im sure, its pretty hard to find this series these days! Will this release see it all the way through this time including season three which the singles never got up to? I would ask if you were using the uncropped HD masters they have recently started broadcasting stateside but I think at this point any complete home release would be better than none Very Happy

Two sets is because that's how we've released all of our other retro anime so far recently. Digimon, Cardcaptor sakura were both split into two sets. If we did it as 1 set at $99.95 it would also be a barrier to entry for some fans. We wanted to make it more accessible with a more affordable price.

RE: Kenshin, it's just whatever we've released in the past repackaged.

Transformers will be in widescreen.

I noticed on the larger cover art that it is spelled "Anicrad", if I remember correctly it was Aincrad? It says this on vol. 1 and 2 (Vol. 2 hasn't been posted yet, I found it the other day) Should hopefully be corrected with the finalized cover art.

Yes, Anicrad will be fixed in the final cover. This is only a temporary cover. The art will also be changing to the Japanese covers.

Probably worth mentioning the art for this set has changed.

I'll be honest, the previous cover is about 100x better and I'm a little upset it's been changed (though I imagine that's out of Madman's control) but I'll probably end up with it anyway Rolling Eyes

The US release of Sankarea used the broadcast versions rather than the uncut home release versions. The distributor will be remastering the discs with the uncut episodes and will offer replacements for those who want them.

Just to confirm, will you be using the uncensored episodes?

Still kinda gutted that three of the Transformers series that usually get crap releases or skipped over entirely are finally seeing a nice full release and they are still missing the original Japanese unedited video. Guess they couldn't put both on the sets due to the edited English version and its audio not matching the originals.

*sigh* Maybe one day Transformers fans will see Micron Legend (Armada), Super Link (Energon) and Galaxy Force (Cybertron) released in full unedited. With no episodes cut, no shoehorning scenes from other series in to force Unicron into the story where he didn't belong, no violence edits. Perhaps when we see a full release of Transformers Car Robots...or when pigs fly haha.

It's been a few years since I last came onto these boards or even bought any anime. Looking through this thread, it's great to see more boxes being released. It's time to start buying again. It looks like there's lots of interesting releases.

Here are a couple of the February releases that I found sort of listed on Madmans website a few weeks ago.

One Piece Movie: Strong World

Fairy Tail Collection 7 (S2 Ep 73-84)

One Piece (Uncut) Collection 24 (S5 Eps 288-299)

The others that had release dates in March and beyond did not have cover images for them yet.

Edit: Madman have added their March release covers (some of which are bellow).

Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-Ne Season 1

Legend of the Legendary Heroes Complete Collection

Sword Art Online Vol. 4 Fairy Dance Part 2 (Eps 20-25)

EDIT: Disregard. They had already been put up on Madman's page.

It'd be cool if they could change the cover art for One Piece: Strong World. That bottom left text box looks so out of place.

PRETTY PLEASE!
