It's bought, not brought. Brought is to bring as bought is to buy

I've bought a bit of anime off eBay myself, though really it was only as a resort of last place to get really. Got a few bargains myself.

I just purchased the two Oh! My Goddess OVA's from there, since Madman don't sell both of them any more.

That's interesting.

Just checked the catalogue and it's only volume 2 of the OVA that's available now.

I wonder if Madman will get the collector's edition of the OVA lol.

Well Ebay is my last resort for 'out of print' anime... can't tell you how many older series I've managed to find on there... of course, if I could have them brand new, then I would've have... but I would rather have them at all, even if they are used.

It's just that I've been looking quite a bit and didn't see it.

You callin' me a liar???? Razz Seriously though, you wouldn't have seen it, as I stumbled on the auction about 1hr after it had been listed and bought it straight away, so I doubt anyone who had wanted the series had come across, otherwise they would have bought it.

Which state do you live in? I'm in Melbourne and saw a Black Cat collection in JB Hi-Fi and Borders at Highpoint shopping center today. Unfortunately it's still full price at $94 at JB, probably $100 at Borders.

Sleepless Beauty, sorry to report that I haven't been able to track down any of the ones you're after so far. Haven't been to Ozanimart yet, or a few other JB; etc. I'll keep looking.

BTW: Dixon's is a second hand dealer of vinyl, cd's and dvd's etc.

Thanks Jaden1 will shoot them an email if I can't find them elsewhere, had good dealings with Shin in the past.

Travku, can you buy stuff from them online though? I am in Sydney. If they had the black one (Tin 1) I might have to enlist someone to help me. So did they have the black one?

Last time I checked, the third Fullmetal Alchemist tin was still available through the MM website. It was gone for ages but a retailer must've sent it back to MM so that's why they list it again. Keep an eye out for this too. Retailers can never sell all of their products so there's a chance that what you're looking might be sent back to MM and it might pop up again on the website.

BTW, I have a spare of the second tin.

Also, the city JB store in Adelaide got in a copy of Gungrave. It's been a while since I've seen that around.

Hmmm might hit you up for that second tin if the one I am trying to get falls through. If you don't mind, that is. That's also if someone doesn't beat me too it. I did notice that 3rd tin, but I was keeping quiet because I wouldn't mind it myself Laughing

It's best to email them about DVDs that you are after. They are really friendly too.

The Shin Tokyo website isn't much of a help, except for the new release sections. Like Kyoto Hanyo said, email them and they'll help you out.

The reason I can is because I live in Adelaide and have access to the actual store. I also keep in contact with them through email regularly since I buy a lot of things.

Yeah, you'd think so hey! I used to visit SA a fair bit, nothing there that really inspired me that much. It does have some redeeming features though, I just can't think of any right now Laughing

The beaches around Victor Harbour are actually very nice. I never did any shopping there, being male, shopping isn't really my forte. The food is great. Much better than Sydney IMO. Some great scenery. the climate is pretty good too. Nowhere near as humid as in Sydney. They have Shin Tokyo too XD, never went there myself, I was visiting there over 10 years ago, not sure that it was even there then? I have the museum is great though I never went and they have a fair bit of cactus at the botanic gardens which is nice. There seems to be a lot of collectors of some form or another down there too, which is pretty neat.

I'm sure you will visit one day, or not...

haha, if you can get an interconnecting train, I did that once and ended up having to hang around in Melbourne for about 12 hours. Melbourne was cool, but I was so tired that I could barely enjoy it at the time.

@Sleepless - I find it funny how the Vampire Princess Miyu boxset pops up shortly after I got the R1 TokyoPop boxset. Someone must be watching this thread and have some out of print series in their house or something.

I agree, I think there are a quite a few online sellers that have watched the Madboards, in particular the October Sale/Transistion to fatpack/ and this thread and have seen how much people want the box sets.

I asked an online seller the other week about FMA Collection 1 as his listing said it came with 6 booklets and I wanted to confirm it was the box, he replied and told me it was the fatpack he had available and that I WOULD NOT be able to obtain a copy from any retailer in Australia.
I sent a message back telling him to adjust his listing as the fatpack wouldn't have the 6 booklets and then went and bought the boxset from Sanity.

As for Shin Tokyo, they have been really good in finding boxsets for me, granted I am a pretty regular customer but they do put in a lot of effort I think. Would be awesome to go to the actual store. They have actually suggested that they may expand with other locations in other states although not for some time yet. I keep asking them to open a store in Melbourne.

@Sleepless - I find it funny how the Vampire Princess Miyu boxset pops up shortly after I got the R1 TokyoPop boxset. Someone must be watching this thread and have some out of print series in their house or something.

Yeah I got the same feeling and I thought of you as soon as I saw it. I hate how that happens... I always think 'why couldn't it have show up then!".

Really? That's surprising. I was wondering whether they'd open any more brances in Adelaide but I hope they open stores interstate too so everyone can take advantage of their great products.

I REALLY wish I could get the first one. Sanity seems to have everything I'm looking for (interstate anyway).

OZanimart in Melbourne has boxsets for Basilisk and the Rurouni Kenshin series but unfortunately they're at full price, despite the recent MM reduction. Apparently they have a lot of boxsets for different series, they're just a little pricey.

you have to email them with what you want as they don't have an actual shopping cart and such to speak of.

Just email them what you want (really they tell you to check madman catalogue as they offer what MM has) and ask for a quote on cost for the dvds and postage and just go from there.

As has been mentioned in this very thread the best way to deal with Shin Tokyo is by emailing them with what you want to order.

EDIT: Speedy beat me to it! Doh!

Im not sure if these will still be there (or if anyone wants them, but what the hay)
Borders at Highpoint (In melbourne) I remeber them having the Last Exile boxset and a FMP: Fomoofu (Or however you spell it) boxset.
And Minotuar (On Eliz. st in Melb (Everyone should know of it)) had a couple of Fomoofu boxsets, (I think) a please twins boxset, and some more which I remeber being fatpacks but I can't remeber their names (Brain fart) >_<
Thats probably not much help (and It might have allready been posted, I couldn't be bothered reading a few pages) but anyways...

EDIT: Just had a Brain-thing with pictures and inside of it was Fate/Stay night at Minotuar Very Happy (Boxset)

Went to Dixon's Recycled and JB Hi-Fi in Camberwell today. Noticed Dixon's had the Evangelion platinum edition boxset (the shiny silver box) for $69 and that volumes 2, 3 and 4 of Vampire Princess Miyu TV series was gone Laughing. Clearly there are people reading this thread and going out to get it from our posts.

JB Hi-Fi had the first deluxe collection of the original 1980's series of Astro Boy (the one with the red tin) but I noticed the bottom was slightly dented. There was one someone looking for that collection though right?

Usually the price for box sets at either Sanity or Myer's Virgin stores are at the full price of $120 unfortunately.

You think that's bad? They are still trying to sell the Ergo Proxy boxset for $186 at my local JB!

I got mine from MM for nearly half that price. I find it hard to comprehend how they can do this, but then sell other boxsets for a very generous price.
