Strictly not an anime or retro release but is anyone else disappointed with the way that these have been handled?
They are released as Volume 1 - Disc 1 and Volume 1 - Disc 2 in separate amaray cases with the same cover art. Even the Region 1 version of volume 1 is packed in a single case.

At one point it looks like more of the X-Men series was going to be released locally on DVD, than the USA. It went from X-Men Volume 1/2 (2 Disc), to X-Men Volume 1-4 (2 Disc), to individual volumes, in the upcoming releases section of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment web site.

A typical try to cash in on the local market, when they have barely released any animated series on DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if the video quality was terrible either, as the previous Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales DVD releases had the worse PAL transfers I have seen.

Definitely worth importing the Region 1 DVD releases instead, especially if you want to save on the shelf space.

Companies just don't seem to understand just because they're cartoons doesn't mean that they don't deserve good DVD releases.

Just watching these now on my day off. The Video quality isn't that great, really.
I might have to 'return' this DVD somehow and get a Region 1 copy.

The video quality of Region 1 DVD releases isn't that good either, since Disney didn't attempt any restoration at all. But at least no PAL conversion artifacts to worry about.

Check out the Volume 1 and Volume 2 threads at Toon Zone forums, for images of the Region 1 DVD releases.

Bah, I guess I'm more annoyed about shelf space more than anything really.
I honestly can't understand the redundancy of having two discs released as two separate volumes with the same cover art?
My mind boggles with that decision...
