sorry didnt see

[EDIT] Yes i agree that that discussion should be brought to another thread, instead of clogging up December 09 Releases.

Heres the link:

EDIT: It wasn't mentioned in the first post... but if you scroll down to the end of the first page, you'll find that it has been mentioned there.

The DBZ forum can use a bit of traffic. Nobody is telling the people discussing the release of Evangelion 1.01 that it's been discussed in the General Anime release thread, afterall.

This would see soemthing I'd be interested in if Funimation hadn't announced the Dragon Boxes.

*facepalm* Its okay, really, there was no need to edit your entire post or anything, I just meant to say that it was listed in the December thread, just not in the first post.

Why don't you post that you've started this topic in the December thread and then people can bring the arguement about what the boxset size will be over here. Smile

Well, why not actually discuss rather than spam?

I'm still intrigued by what the size of this thing will be though. I'm expecting to see nine or so slim packs, in fairly boring packaging but would love to see Madmando something striking and uniwue before the inevitable Dragonbox announcement.

Wouldn't it be 9 FATpacks though Razz

Although that's what I'm expecting personally just for showing off I'd like it to be 54 DVD cases in one hell of a long box with either snake way or a timeline of sorts on the back just for show.
I also figure this way InuYasha isn't hogging up most of the space on my shelving Razz

Maybe the Goku figure that is available on the MM online shop can be a bonus extra to go with each box sold Razz . How many discs are there in each of the current fatpacks? If there are 6 at the most, then they can go into slimpacks but I too would like to see something special with this, the image that is on the JB site looks pretty plain and is only a front on picture so is difficult to see how the box is assembled and packaged. It will be the biggest box on the MM catalogue won't it? I think the Robotech Protoculture is one of the biggest at present and that is pretty big.

Yes, it's fatpacks now. But that would probably change for the complete collection, due to it's length.

I'm curious to know if the season 9 audio was actually fixed on this set or not.
Have to ask Blind_Lawyer about it though.

The box design is pretty average, and neglects the Freeza and Buu sagas. It was a picture of the Saiyajin saga, one of the Saiyajin how they looked during the Cell saga and then just a picture of various forms of Goku and Vegeta. It's not bad, but it's hardly good either.

The major plus being it's heavy enough to kill anyone who questions why you aren't importing/waiting for the Dragonboxes.

What is so good about the Dragon Box? (that is going to take ages to come out over here.)

I mean they are going back to a aspect ratio of 4:3, not 16:9 (which fits a HD widescreen tv perfectly) like on the digitally remastered box set.

It seems like a step backwards when they talk about remastering something.

The cropping was done badly. The colours were screwed around with. That sort of thing. There are other places that have more information, like the Daizex forums.

The Dragonbox looks better, is better packaged (in terms of episode count) and doesn't screw around with aspect ratios. And, you know, I have a widescreen LCD TV, perhaps not a fancy new one (it's two years old), and I've never had a single problem watching 4:3 things on it, with no loss of footage. You know, the thing you get with fake 16:9?

I just unwraped my box set and had a good look over everything and realised there is no 24 page booklets.

Did anyones come with this?

Is it supposed to come with this?

I looked on madman's catalogue page regarding the dbz box set and it says....

This set has been digitally re-mastered in High Definition and transferred from the original Japanese film. Features revised English dialogue and the original Japanese music, and comes with a 24-page booklet filled with episode summaries, character descriptions and a Dragon Ball Z timeline.

Contains all NINE seasons of Dragon Ball Z
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DVD Special Features

24-page booklet including episode summaries, character descriptions and DBZ time line
"Remastering Process" featurette

...
So i am wondering if i am actually supposed to have these booklets in my set?

I had a look at this this week as Jb hifi.

But since I have already got most of DBZ episodes but in single DVD volumes it is a shame I didn't wait for the remastered ones.

There are some season fatpacks though I would probably buy separate as like my favourite seasons or the seasons that weren't released with a japanese language option when DBZ was first released.

Would someone mind posting a picture of the boxset, maybe a few angles to see if I like it.

These sorts of booklets, if the first season set/orange brick is anything to go by, are usually just crap, honestly. Oh wow, a tazo timeline, or something? The (maybe?) darte when the DBZ card game came out? Who is Goku?

There is no booklet included in this set. It was never listed in the product listing nor on the product itself.

You'll notice that you can't actually fit any booklets into the slimpack, which was the reason why it was ommitted.

Oh sorry I forgot to update on this topic. This was the original issue i had brought up...

I sent an email to Madman asking about these so called booklets, which originally mentions in the product description in MM's catalogue and this is wat i received:

Quote:
Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunately this booklet was never produced as we did not receive the materials from the licensor. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and will have the web team amend the details on our website.

Kind regards,

Nathan.

So then later when i looked at the product description in the catalogue the part mentioned about the booklet was removed.(since there was never supposed to be any and it was just a mistake in the items description.)

So this problem was sorted out.

Looking at the blog section on the front of the Madman site it says that this collection was a limited release and is now no longer available apart from what stock is still left at retailers.
I spoke to an anime retailer earlier and they had no idea that this was a one-off and had sold out all their stock of it.

Just wondering, if it has done so well that it has sold out at a distribution level and is only available in a few stores who still have stock why would there not be another run of these made?

Also, was there any indication that this was a limited release earlier in any of the newsletters or announcements about this collection?

Have you ever received any information about these audio problems as to whether they will be corrected?

I realise there are still copies of this still around in the shops, it just seems weird as it kind of came out of nowhere, it wasn't listed with the December releases initially, there was some misinformation about it in the product listing which had to be corrected, it's only January and MM have gotten rid of all their stock and many retail level shops have sold out as well. I can't recall any mention of it over the past 8 weeks about it being a ltd edition and that no more would be made until seeing the blog on MM's site yesterday (if there is info about this could someone direct me to it).

Is there another DBZ collection that is going to replace this release coming out in the future? Or will the only way to collect the series be buying the individual seasons that are also in shops at the moment?

Here is what info I have on the situation.

Blind Lawyer wrote:
Hi there,

I checked with our DVD authors who explained this was a source related issue, so it is not something we'll be able to fix in the short term. The Complete Collection repackages the existing release, so these are the same discs - there is no difference in content.

I'll submit a query to quality assurance to see if this can be fixed, but I can't give you a timeframe right now as it was source related - so it may be that way on the masters.
To quote the main bits of info from the PMs back and forth between me and him.

So here is the info I have Trav.

So has anyone picked up the complete remastered collection thats just been released for the 2nd time?

Cos i was in JB yesterday and the box they had there was exactly the same as the first one they released. (which i have)

I was kind of under the impression that it was going to have different artwork from the first release.
Since we first heard about it being rereleased in the 'Future Anime Cover Art' thread.

Where this picture appearded.

I don't know anything about this release!

Is this the Australian version of the Dragon Boxes?

The Dragon Boxes goes for insane prices on the 2nd market.

Edit.
I just checked. This is not the Australian Dragon Box version. This is the hoaky chopped widescreen edition with that cheap new coloration that the infamous orange bricks from the US also contains.
