There will be four rebuild of Evangelion movies.

1.0/1.01/1.11: You Are (Not) Alone
2.0/2.02/2.22 You May (Not) Advance
3.0/3.03/3.33 (English title to be announced)
4.0/4.04/4.44 (English title to be announced)

The .0 movies are the original theatrical versions.
The .0x ones are initial DVD release versions. They have minor changes.
The .xx versions are the super-upgraded-all-out-expanded Blu-ray versions, though they will also be released on DVD..

could be worse.. ghost in the shell is at about 20 years or so i read somewhere Smile thanx for the info on the movies too
i kinda hope they dont have those self analysis episodes this time around.. i never seen the prisnor tv show so i never really got that comparison i just found them annoying Sad and iv watched the the eps and the movies a few times but i never understood the ending part.. did he choke asuka or not it kinda looked like it XD i guess in my mind i was hoping for a cliche gaint fighting robot happy ending with a "and we all lived happy ever after" not a everyone died and then the 2 most emo kids in the world came back to life and then possibly one chokes the other.... on a side note the freaks at seele make refrence too the dead sea scrolls.. but who wrote them..? our giant alien angel rocbot foefathers? how big are those scrolls!! they must be like the size of parachutes.

He didnít end up actually choking Asuka in the end Ė Shinji, at this point, still doesnít know what is real and what isnít as he just went through some kind of severe self psycho-analysis. He begins choking her because he did it in that scene during the movie but when she wakes up, she touches his face (Or something like that, I canít really remember) and he stops Ė Realising what he is doing.
Also, during the dialogue, it is insinuated that more people will get their bodies back from the LCL sea over time Ė So Asuka and Shinji may not be the only two people left on the Earth.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are actually stone tablets, I thought (I imagined thereíd be a tonne of them, written in some kind of cryptic language SEELE wouldíve had to have translated). IDK Ė Iíll have to look into it again.

The series actually leaves a lot unanswered but you can do a little research and certain fragments will begin to make sense. There are clues layered throughout the story, some obvious, some hidden...

Excuse the double post.

TBH, I really liked the original series and movie Ė I havenít even watched any of the new re-makes. I will get around to it eventually but from what Iíve read they have changed up a lot of the key story elements that I find so intrinsic and appealing to NGE.

Yeah and regarding Ghost In The Shell, I donít know too much about it but I think it would translate really well into a live action movie.

The remakes are great in their own way. The second movie is especially good. I don't really see them as taking away from the original series, just another retake on the whole thing in general. Also I agree with the GITS live action movie. I'd just pray that it wouldn't be destroyed by Hollywood (especially don't let Michael Bay even near it!)
