Yeah, basically self-explanatory. Just thought I'd create this 'cause we don't always purchase something that would go in one of the current threads and it's certainly not something that needs a thread of it's own so I thought we could put that stuff in here.

Obviously, if you purchase, say, a figurine then that'd go in the appropriate merchandise thread in the anime section of the forum. Something like a video game purchase, if there is something unique about it, could go in here I guess. Obviously if it's better to go in one of the games threads then they go in there.

Hopefully those cheapskates amongst us can use this to help each other pick up bargains too! Razz

So, to get things rolling in a rather boring way, I purchased a Sandisk "Cruzer Blade" 4GB flash stick from Dick Smith today. Not exciting, I know, and certainly not exciting enough for a pic but I got it for $7 so I'm happy. Razz

Also, Coles totally have Stagg brand chili (all varieties) for 2 for $5 at the moment. I like chili so this is good. Wink

How about it being a Bargains thread or Random Bargains thread and those who find good stuff both online and in store can post it here for others that are looking to save a few quid.

I bought some awesome Home Brand Smooth Peanut Butter today for $3 from Woolworths, following it up with a $1.60 can of Coca Cola from the vending machine on the way out of the supermarket.

Self Serve machines FTW, except when old people think you should bring entire shopping carts full of contents to it. Self. Serve. Is. Not. The. Place. For. Your. Shopping. Cart. You. Are. Not. As. Fast. As. A. Salesperson.

Bought the hardcover release of The Lost Fleet - Beyond the Frontier - Dreadnought by Jack Campbell.

I don't normally buy HB releases, but I was desperate for this one. Afterall it's the latest book of the Lost Fleet series and I didn't want to wait till September to get the PB release.

I'll get that one as well. Wink

Bah. I tried that chili once, I was promised "DYNAMITE HOT!" but it totally failed to deliver on that lofty promise.

When it comes to chili, I prefer to buy Hoyts. Their chili flakes seem to pack enough of a punch, at least when applied during cooking (not after cooking as a condiment). Not too expensive either, I think you can get a 100g jar for around $2.

I usually get Stag Chilli for my burrito/mince mix or any other random concoction but I get mild cause i'm a pussy when it comes to spicy food Razz though sometimes it's got a fair bite in it, other times it's barely a tickle but I think it depends on what I use in it as well along side with it.

Should have gone to Coles the other day and gotten some as I was in the area, bah!

Oh, I agree. It's not the hottest chili around. It's certainly tasty though!

Also, totally creating a bargain thread.

I've just bought (well ordered), an 8gb Samsung Extreme SDHC card and spare battery for my digital camera.
I needed more flash storage, and figured a spare battery for the camera would be a good idea, as last year when I went to Games Day I was almost out of charge by the afternoon Smile

Picked up a couple of 600ml Breaka and Oak flavoured milks for 2.50 each from a Nightowl the other night. Was pretty stoked.

After discovering that Donut King doesn't take Visa, I went to 7/11 and bought a $2 chocolate doughnut from them. It was so freaking yummy, I had been craving sweet stuff for days.

Don't you already have 2x GTX 460? They're suppose to be more powerful than a single GTX 480...

Customers don't seem to be really interested in the Macbook Pro much anymore. There was interest in the new ones when they came out but since then nothing much.

Quality of the build of the laptop is more then worth it, this Toshiba I'm on now feels like it'll break under my wrists, not to mention 1 30 mins battery life at best, crashes when waking from sleep, not to mention any strain makes it very hot.

Compared to my old macbook, wich I've had for years now, and has only started having issues(fan stopped working, but replaced it), I'd prefer the spend the extra to have something to opperate as I want it. Plus OS X = less maintenance, and since I'm always debugging IT issues at work, really don't want to come home to do the same, which I've had quite a few times.

When my macbook arrives, gonna virtualise this laptop and run it under VMware for the few occassions where I actually need to use Windows for something. Other then that, OS X is more then enough for me.

I was commenting more on the inflated cost of the hardware.

I agree that the cost is inflated but running a mac system can have its advantages. I have never had a virus on any mac (that's not to say that others havent though) and the way that stuff is filed on a mac just seems easier to use to me, no left behind files and folders all over your system after you remove things that seems so common on Windows based PCs. But I do agree that for the specs of them ( I got a new macbook pro this year also, cost around $3000) you do pay extra just because it is an apple product. I'm no computer expert or anything either so don't take my word on anything I've just said Very Happy

Well, you're right about paying extra simply for the Apple logo. In some cases, it seems like the Apple logo is worth upwards of AU$1500.

I won't deny the extra cost for the apple logo, but at the same time, you have to admit that the average macbooks build quality and construction is easily above any other laptop on the market. Say the macbook pro might cost $1000 for slightly better specs then this laptop(which was like $1700), but with that you're getting 2 graphics cards in it(switches to intel under less load for less power and battery save), 6 horus more battery, smaller size(same screen size), higher screen resolution/better screen, sturdy aluminium body) and other advancements. Plus Mac OS X is a bonus

Basically, I know it costs extra, but I think the extra cost is worth it for a better quality build. If you disagree just based on tech specs, so be it, I won't argue any further. I can understand why people are like, hey I can buy this for less, same specs.

I would agree on the high build quality and overall longevity of apple laptops at least (and this is coming from someone who used to use macs, but now builds their own desktop PCs) as I had a macbook pro last me 3 years, and after those 3 years it was in such good shape I could sell it for a large portion of my money back (also a testament to the fact that a mac is similar in power to one of 3 years before ._.). The longest I have ever owned a non-mac laptop was for just over 2 years, and by the end it was slow as nothing else (and I had even reformatted it a number of times and replaced the hard drive)

tl;dr macbook pros are expensive but also p. good

After losing my awesome umbrella a while ago, I bought a new one today. It's a crappy automatic single person umbrella.

It's the first umbrella I've owned that has been 'blown out' by the wind'.

Every umbrella I own gets destroyed by the smallest gust of wind. But I don't use umbrellas anyway 'cause I'm hard.
