since the sailor moon reboot is on its way to Japanese television, it would be good to license the old sailor moon series

I have not found any aussie SM dvds anywhere and i do not trust the US SM box sets

Also they said the SM 2013 will release an episode world wide at the same time, will you Madman be screening it here online?

The problem is that Toei seems reluctant to license the old series at the moment. There are some countries that have licensed it recently, though, such as Italy, so the chance is small for it being picked up at the moment.

Asia to the new series availability, little has been said besides "it will be available worldwide". It may be that there's a single streaming service available to a handful of countries; that's what "worldwide" has been used to mean in the past by some companies. That said, I'd love for it to be available to Australians.

Yeah they did hate the English adaption, probably why we never got a dubbed sailor moon stars, but another reason why was because the English version didn't want to license it since the stars are guys that transformed into sailor girls

another reason because they thought it was a spin off or their license expired...i don't know

You do realise an uncut subtitled only version of the show was released by ADV in the US for a limited period of time in the mid 00's yeah?

Well it's missing an episode, so technically you'd be right. But it is a 100% official release from ADV. It was licensed for all of a week, it feels like.

To be fair, the episode in question was disowned by the show's creator.

Yeah, I'd heard it was pretty piss poor overall. Much like Toei's treatment of the series.

Well now that Viz Media has purchased the rights to the original and rebooted Sailor Moon series for North America and will be at the very least re-dubbing the original show in its uncut form for release on DVD & Blu-ray, is there any chance of Madman picking up the Australian rights for both sometime this year?

It'd be great to see the DiC and Toei USA dubs included as extras but it'll most likely never happen due to issues with ownership, but one can dream...

I can't why not as Toei seem to be pushing the new Sailor Moon Crystal worldwide with multilingual releases with broadcast sites like NicoNico Douga & Crunchyroll.

Still I can imagine it as a good license to acquire for Madman & for us aussies to gain a legit uncut version of the series with the new dubs to go along with it.

Surely the series is much more accessible now that Viz have acquired the original 90's and Crystal adaptions of Sailor Moon. I'm holding out for Madman to make an announcement, but will strongly consider importing if no details surface before the US release.
