Section 9, Japan's high-mobility anti-crime unit, is back in action! The Major's got her work cut out for her as she leads her team on a series of new cases now that the Laughing Man case has been closed.

Uprisings over the treatment of a wave of Asian immigrants threaten the political landscape, and the new Prime Minister brings in Section 9 to offer their services - but on a much tighter leash than they're used to. After being reinstated, they must stop an assassin who is killing high-ranking officials, outmaneuver an incredibly talented thief, and unravel the reason a high-tech helicopter malfunctioned. And all under the supervision of the mysterious and disturbing man known as Gohda.

I liked the mouse pad, with the image that Slykura first posted, and playing cards with the GITS characters that came with Volume 2 of the US release. Tachikoma was on the joker cards, which seems quite appropriate. Razz Very Happy
Haven't had a chance to watch it due to too many kids running around right now, but the weekend is looking good. Smile

And, um..? Isn't there already a GITS thread that's already many pages long? Seems a bit strange, even for the purpose of promoting the local release of GITS:SAC 2nd Gig, to start another.

o-ho yeah! looking forward to this... (if any of you get in my way when this is released and i cant get a copy, i will personally hunt you down, and duct tape you to the drive shaft of a moving truck... then steal your copy of GITS SAC 2nd gig... Razz)...

serious now...

i saw epsiode one from a newtype smapler disc, and it looks to be more of the same from the first series, sci fi atction and a plot so deep you could wade thru it... (plus they shoot the top of some dude's head off, blood and guts are allways cool)

The cover looks cool, Motoko looks more like manga Motoko for that cover.

Something very GITS:SAC-ish would be cool. Like a hand gun? A knife perhaps? I know, a pickled cyber brain!

Just to hype up this thread a bit, I finally saw the last episode of 2nd Gig today and can tell you guys that it's definitely worth collecting this series when it starts getting released Smile

For anyone who has seen it all too..
It was kinda sad to see the Tachikomas die yet again in the last episode, and those Uchikomas seem boring. It was very satisfying to see Motoko finally blast the hell out of Gouda though.
I wonder if they're planning yet another series. They left this one pretty open ended, so I guess it could go either way really.

We can't help it. Unforuantly the US release has a 9 week releease lag between volumes, it's unusally high and means that due to our own lead times and material availabilities we are at the mercy of how fast we get materials.

Oh yeah, I realise that. But with season 1, I ended up buying them incrementally and then watching the lot. So that was a bit harsh. And now having to wait like 1.5 years to see the rest? OMG...

To those thinking that there will be another series...

The ending of 2nd gig is almost exactly like the start of the GITS manga. So the logical progression would be SAC, 2nd GIG, GITS, Innocence.

Hey darth (or anyone else who's been getting the R1's). when your's arrived was the disc loose off the spindle and getting scratched? i heard stories of this happening, then it happened to me, so i've staved off getting Vol 2 until i can find somewhere that sells them that hasn't/doesn't have this problem. i don't want ALL my discs damaged before they arrive. if u get insurance on the postage, then u just have to the senders and they'll fix it up, works in theory.

Duke - Mine was good. Although, I did notice they stuck a piece of foam into volume 2 to hold the discs in place. Guess that was their way of avoiding them popping loose in transit after volume 1.

I'd just like to say that this series is a b!tch to translate - even with a native Japanese speaker at my side, it was still a fansubber's nightmare!! It was the most difficult animé I've ever tried to translate... and I hope I don't get asked to translate anything as hard as that for a long time to come. Razz And as difficult as it was to translate with subtitles, I'd hate to imagine the butchering that the dubs must have done to the original script <shudders@the.thought>...

Hopefully the official subs have done a good job (i.e.: please no "dubtitles") - if so, my hats off to a very unenviable task of translating such a difficult script.

Of course, the fact that they probably had copies of the script in print (as opposed to translating by ear) and used qualified translators (I lack a Masters in Interpretation and Translation) would've helped. Razz Razz

The English dub is pretty faithful to the original script, so very little is lost in translation. Please stop living in the late 80's please Smile
