If you have a new meet-up plan E-mail me the details and I'll put it here on the first page and a link to its subsequent page in this thread.

Edit: Matty-chan^_^
Im keeping these first few post here as i think this could be a good idea

I PM'd this to sly, but I spose everyone can see what they think. The only problem I have with seperate forums is we wouldn't get the traffic from the madboards, anyway.

"I just thought I'd make a suggestion with the sticky threads; I certainly don't disapprove of them, however I think they could be implemented better.

I'd like to suggest that for each state the requests a sticky thread, a puppet account be created, something along the lines of "Sydney Meet" account. Access to this account would be granted to a few select people in each area. This puppet account then makes an initial thread, similar to the sticky threads that already exist, and this is then stickied. As each new meet comes along a separate thread is made, this thread is then linked to in the sticky thread. So in reality, the sticky thread becomes a meta-thread, merely pointing to the threads of the meet-ups. This would ensure that the forum is kept more clean, as you would have noticed each meet-up thread often spills over numerous pages, and to hold all of this in the current sticky threads would make it almost completely unreadable, extremely difficult to even sort through for information pertaining to the meet, and just be a hassle.

The stickied threads would require no replies, and each time a new meet thread is created, the initial thread is merely edited and updated, with the most recent meet thread linked at the top."

That'd be so annoying to do though. Can't the meetups just be organised in the one thread by some kind of central member/members? It's often Maciko, is it not?

Here's a more practical idea: Upon organising the next meetup, alter the thread title to include the date in question aswell, perhaps, as some kind of keyword, e.g.
"Sydney Meetup Thread: 9/4/05 - Supanova"

Where's the problem in that? It shouldn't be too hard for those who are up for being the key organisers to post up the list of attending members every once in a while, and likewise it shouldn't be too hard for members to add themselves to the attendance list. Much easier than fooling around with new puppet accounts and such.

The problem isn't that we dont have a place to organise them, the problem is the amount of useless **** dribble that people, for some reason or another, feel compelled to post. How hard is it having a groupd account that you log into once every time you have a meet? Just quickly edit the post so that you have a link pointing to the latest post, then log out. Everything else is done in the new thread as usual.

When I organised the meets I went through each and every post, unfortunately the vast majority consisted of people talking crap, but to be fair, and make sure each person had a say I checked every message. All I am suggesting is having one post covering every meet, posted by some group account, which numerous people have access too, whoever is deciding to organise a meet either already has the account details, or tells someone who does, and they then edit that one post.

instead of being a centralised place to organise meets, its is a centralised place to find out where and when new meets are being organised, which requires a lot less effort.

What Conan is suggesting makes sense to me. i guess the Sydney people with access would be Conan, Mac and Franky...

Avoid this at all costs. If you like RHPS in any way, then you will not want to see it raped by the **** that run this audience participation session once every fortnight. In all honesty, I don't think they could make it any worse if they tried. Going to this almost made me want to never watch RHPS again. Ps. If anything, it would be the 30th aniversary of the film ....

Just wanted to say a thanks and farewell to all the Sydney madboarders. First starting the meets, then seeing the continued success of them was great, and it was great meeting you all. But as most of you probably know, I'm off for a year, to teach overseas. I hope you keep these things alive, and that I'll be able to attend one on my return.

Generally speaking, from a veteran Sydney meet goers vast knowledge of such things, we do something like meet at central and go to a movie, or park or..Katoomba? and then we wander around the city looking at things and not going to kunikunya. and nothing anime related. If you want anime related things, we will laugh in a particularly elitest way and push you. And I'll make a push pop reference. Ah, I loved that commercial.

But never ever mention "Luna Park" *hides in corner*

I think the new meet Franky is planning is going to be called "New Blood" but you didn't read that from this. We're all bored of each other, we need new entertainment.

At present the next meet will probably be to the zoo or aquarium, though other suggestions are always welcome.

P.S. Thanks to Matty-chan for the much needed thread purging.

You could always TRY and say how cute they are... if you had lips... or a face left!
I'd feel guilty going to the zoo! I couldn't go without my little boy! Who would stand and laugh with me at the gorillas when they pick their noses etc? Who would help me count how long elephants do wee? (He gets to eleventeen and I take over from there.)

According to the Taronga Zoo website the cost of entry is $27 ($19 for students).

That price is surprisingly high but at least it's going to a good cause.
