I figured this would be better on it's own thread. ^_^

Dendy cinemas have listed the Cowboy Bebop Movie for a cinema run on their website.

OPENS MARCH 6 AT

DENDY MARTIN PLACE(Sydney) AND

KINO DENDY CINEMAS (Melbourne),

APRIL 3 AT DENDY BRISBANE.

It will be a subtitled print.

I would've thought that the Cowboy Bebop movie would be showing on more screens than Spirited Away, seeing as though it is coming from Columbia-Tristar... oh well, looks like I'll be waiting for the DVD. :/

Woo, I'll be going to see that. Cowboy Bebop in the movies. Yah! Guess that means it should be a nice and packed DVD we are getting if they think it'll be alot bigger than Metropolis.

I got this reply from the Dendy:

quote:

Alexander,
At present we don't know whether the print will be dubbed or subtitled until it turns up here at DMP. I would think it is likely that it will be the same print that screened at Japanime. For further information you could contact the film distributor Columbia Tristar or try the website listed on the poster www.SonyPictures.com

Sorry we could not be of more help.

Suzanne
DMP

So it sort of answers, but sort of doesn't.

As for the "test screening" bit, I'm guessing that this is just like Metropolis.

Tried the Sony site and got bugger-all on the movie.
Search came up zero

But adding anyway, I don't want this to turn into a dub/sub war, but I would like it to be dubbed so that the greatest amount of ppl could see it ( it would be a great intro to anime for a lot of ppl ).
If we want madman to get more anime into the country, including those not so popular series we love, we have to let this happen to expand the market.

It doesn't really hurt as one of the small theatres always screen the subbed versions and the DVDs have subs, so everyone wins
everyone sings... happy happy joy joy
A small price to pay.

*sigh*

Sometimes living in the country has it's drawbacks. I'll probably won't get a chance to see it in a cinema.

That's true, but it's already been screened subbed (and for us otaku Wink )at Japanime.
Since then the dubbed version has been released at New Yorks Big Apple Anime Fest, that's why I thought they might give them the dubbed version.
Anyway, in any version it's a great movie.
GO SEE!!

This is just crap! Is there any chance of it being on at WA cinemas?

And dubbed is always better at the movies as it means that less people will be deterred by the whole Japanese speaking/ reading a movie thing.

Please do!

And what would the English name of the Cowboy Bebop movie be, as I am told the dub completely kills the purpose of the title, but I'm yet to see it in English.

Still? So they don't change the meaning of the film via dub? That may be alright then...

No, due to copyright reasons we're now seeing
"Cowboy Bebop, THE MOVIE".

I'm pretty sure it's like that regardless of dubbed or subbed form here.

I'm sure it will eventually make it's way to other cinemas. Not that it was a must-see, Vampire Hunter D never came to Brisbane...which is a shame.

I went into the Kino Dendy Cinema in Melb, and I've been told the session times for Melb will be available from Monday 3rd March.

Also, the Australian release of the movie on DVD COULD be around June or July, but what I'm waiting for is the Australian release of the OST's. (If they have been released in Australia, could someone let me know where to grab them here in melbourne.)

Also, (a little tidbit of information here =-Þ) if you get the Herald Sun and have a look at the Arts & Entertainment section, the small add for Kino Dendy that's about 3 X 5 cm big costs the cinema about $50 to $100 a DAY!!!

It had a review for the Movie, giving it 3 and a half stars

I went to see the 9.10 screening at Martin Place last night and apart from me and my 3 friends there was only 5 other people there.

Damn good movie though. I'll definatly be going back again to see it at least one more time.

I watched the movie at Dendy Martin Place. The cool thing is they gave out a free Madman sampler dvd when I purchased my ticket and their was a comp to win Madaman Cowboy Bebop dvds.

It's actually quite interesting that Madman are doing promotions in conjunction with the movie as (to my knowledge) they have nothing to do with it's release.

If Madman never released the TV series then I doubt very much that the movie would of ever got a cinema run, and maybe not even a DVD run (here's hoping), as the public may not have even been aware of the show itself. So in a way, Madman have something to do with the release, though the promotion is probably something between Madman and Dendy.

Promotion disk? How come I didn't get one?

Hey, A group of people like me... ok I'll tell what I know...

-Cowboy bebop DVD (movie) will come out 11th of June (according to Sean from ezydvd.com.au)...

-For those in melboune who missed Cowboy bepop in the Cinemas, look out because it is screening at the Astor cinema (I've misplaced my astor poster, so I can't give dates, I THINK it's screening with Metropolis for $9)

Also at the Astor is Blood the last vampire, Ghost in the shell and Vampire hunter D once again all for $9 (I think that's the consesion price though)... I saw those 3 last time they screened together... fantastic...

-I assume the Madman DVD is the one that was given out free with the NGE end of EVA disks I got one from ezy dvd, I guess they have some left over, I didn't see any at Kinodendy when I saw the CB movie...

I think that's all I have to say

I haven't heard anything about a Perth release yet. That really sucks. We always get things late or not at all.

It was released in the dendy cinema's in Melbourne and Sydney around mid-march (from memory, but going by my memory it was prob more lake january, lol =-Þ)

on may 1st brisbane dendy cinema will have an exclusive season of screenings starting tonight at 6:30pm. no news yet on perth. it'll prob be an idea to go look up the independant cinema's over there to find out if they have anything planned.
