I have read that the movie isn't coming out until next year in the US, if so why have i read on a website from the ACT that this guy has seen it. How could he if the movie is still being made. Is this some uncut japan movie?

And there is only one movie right, was there ever two movies or why do i think there is?

I saw the movie a year and a half ago. It's fairly old, it just hasn't been released in Australia yet. As far as I know there are two movies, but the first (Death:Rebirth) is just a series recap. The actual movie is Eon of Evangelion.

The 2 Eva movies were made ages ago but only dubbed just recently. Or maybe they haven't been dubbed yet, who knows?

I think its a resonable price rize if madman intend to have at least four eps a dvd for nadesico, However Lain which i think only one dvd will be having the one dvd with 4 eps the rest having 3 is a bit much. Still i guess I'm on the losing end and will have to pay what they charge.

To hell with that. I'm getting the US ones, they're region 1 & 4 so you can play them on Aus DVD players.

If anyone else is interested, you can get them here really cheap.

Are you paying attention?

Ring ring, oh hear that? It's the god damn clue phone.

The Evangelion movies have not been officially released in Australia

Your buddy either imported or saw a fansub.

You'd have to look up Japanese companies for that. Madman just gets it's one stuff and sells it locally.

The movies were released in Japan an odd 3 years ago (In Japanese of course). They just haven't been dubbed yet. There are several fansubs available.

Perhaps in future you should do a little research of your own before posting here.

uh, I think people should be allowed to come onto the boards in order to do their research, ie. people should be allowed to ask questions here to find answers.
however, on the other hand, I feel kermi had a right to get frustrated, because people replying to your post made it quite clear, even to someone not so informed as to the workings of the anime world

Eva DEATH and REBIRTH - March 15th 1997
DEATH = theatrical version (jpn only) recap of first 24 eps of eva with extra footage/reanimated footage put in.

DEATH (true) = recap again of first 24 eps but has less new footage

DEATH (true^2) = or the most commoonly seen version/LD/DVD version. again just a recap and has even more footage cut out.

REBIRTH = first 30mins or so of "Air" the replacement episode 25, ends when the EVA series appears.

This was released in theatres in July 97' it was rushed, and very imcomplete.

July 97' END OF EVANGELION - this is the full movie there were also 2 versions of this , Theatre and home/LD/DVD. consisits of "Air" and "My pure heart for you". or eps 25' n 26'<notice the dash or kai. Air starts off the same as REBIRTH cept it was redubbed and newer footage in some scenes were put in. I won't go on ne futher as it'll spoil the story.

THEN we have at around March 1998 i belvie, a release of this known as "THE REVIVAL OF EVANGELION , what this is , is basically DEATH (true^2)+Air+My pure heart for you all put into one exteremly long feature. no breaks, just flows with one another. THis was only released into the cinema's in japan. the reason for this was because alot of ppl stepped out of the theatre after the first feature for both movies. not knowing about the intermission etc. so GAINAX spliced this up and made more money out of it. There is no home release of this i don't belive.

at this point in time the movies that are going to be released to the world ie US n AUs is what looks to be a double disc pack. containing DEATH and REBIRTH on disc 1, and END OF EVANGELION on disc 2. the english dubbing has finished and it's a matter of putting it all together now. Manga US said that it will release it January 2002 on VHS followed in March by a DVD release. Madman are going to be bringing out the movies prolly a few weeks later than the US release so look at MARCH being the release date. i won't be surprised if we even get it before the US like we did with Blood

i would be very surprised the onyl reason blood got released here before the US was because the original track was bilingual, hence no need for the extra dubbing to be done on america's behalf. This meant we could basically get it earlier, and as such, get it out before america. I wonder if madman got any more sales because they released their product about the same time as america did (with the aussie dollar being where it is and all).

Considering the myopism of the US, I doubt it.

Now that Manga Ent. use macrovision on everything, what is this about image quality degradation? (and I hope I will be forgiven for this show of laziness -_-;

I've got nothing against people asking questions but if he he said 'how am I to know the ways in which the anima [sic] world works?' How were we supposed to know that he didn't? As you said, people answered his questions quite well.

This post has degenerated from a light-hearted jab at Orion, to delving into the recesses of the depravity of the human mind...and god, I love it. BTW, I am the Princess of Ca-na-da! Yah! Yah!...but I can't offically back that up with paperwork...

Give Orion a go. I don't think you should go so hard Kermi, you made your points (do your research, its ok to ask questions blah blah blah) Orion probably could'nt understand you, Orion probably can't get his/her head that far up their arse. Try being a bit more understanding and point in the right direction. Get off your high horse. Someone's got to back Orion up, or did you start with as much knowledge as you do now?

I didn't start off knowing what I do now, but when someone told me that the movies haven't been released in Australia, I was able to put two and two together.

When he further failed to understand, I stated that his friend imported, or, far more likely, saw a fansub.

We can't discuss fansubs here because they're not legal. I don't know about importing.

That was all pretty straightforward, but since you were spending too much time working on a witty backhanded comment to actually make a point, you obviously missed that.

just because i watch episodes d/l'd from the 'net doesn't mean they are pirated.. most people know where to find them and it saves waiting to see then here, as most stuff never comes out here..stop editing my messages!!

ummm... they are pirated and if you can't see that, you never will.

This is NOT a normal "come talk about anime" forum. These are Madman's speakerphone to its customers and talking about fansubs is like loudly telling people how to shoplift in Coles or Target or whatever.

All you people who are going on about how watching fansubs is piracy, let me ask you this. How many of you ever recorded NGE (or even BGC) when it was on SBS, even if it was just to watch once at a later time?

Because recordinging it of TV is much more illegal than watching a fansub - in most cases watching fansubs isn't illegal.
