Lone Wolf & Cub is on this Thursday night , SBS. If you haven't seen it yet, then I'd suggest you to watch it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've seen bits from most of the Lone Wolf movies from previous screenings on SBS, but I've only seen one or two from begining to end. Looks like I'll be taping it since it's on at the same time as Angel.

You should check out ''Takeshi Kitano's'' Zatoichi. I saw it last night and it's tops.

I don't know if it has been released in Australia yet but there is a fairly priced Japanese DVD (for once) and a Korean DVD getting released soon.

Both have English subtitles for the main feature.

I got the Korean release on preorder (it's release date is tomorrow Smile). I also have the second and third movie of the original Zatoichi on order Cool.

Relating this back to Lone Wolf and Cub (which is on tonight), Shintaro Katsu, the actor who played Zatoichi was the producer of the Lone Wolf films and his brother Tomisaburo Wakaya is the actor who plays Itto Ogami.

Now this is a question that I have debated before with other people and to no avail, does anyone know which DVD releases of the Lone Wolf & Cub series are actually worth getting? There are a few around the world, but I've never been able to determine which ones are uncut and which ones are the best quality, ie. full aspect and reasonable picture... You can't expect much from a 70's film.

So far AnimEigo versions is the best release out there. 2.35:1 letterboxed, anamorphic widescreen, original dialogs and multicoloured subtitling. The only thing is that these DVDs are DVD-5 format. The picture quality is very good tough, and it is worth getting. I picked them up at http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/

Thanks for that word up Tach... I was looking at the R1 releases, and they do seem to be the best versions available albeit negative extras! I might look into picking these versions up. Word.

Takashi Miike's FUDOH played Saturday night just gone... ha ha what a classic.

Speaking of which what's with Siren getting a hold of licenses for Miike titles in Australia? I thought Eastern Eye were supposed to be releasing Ichi The Killer??

Not impressed, Siren sucks Sad
