One of my downfalls (or what some would call a downfall) is wanting more and more from a series, wanting to have more revealed about the world and the setting and the characters, or maybe I am just greedy for what I like. In most cases the end of a series leaves me feeling slightly speculative about what a sequel or a prequel or whatever would be like. Cowboy Bepop is no exception.

So the question is - after that long ramble: Does anyone else agree that another movie should be made, or perhaps an OAV about Spikes past that we saw through numerous flashbacks? Maybe a short series based just on Ed, Ein and their adventures, or maybe one on Faye? Or am I the only one who feels more could be done without ruining it?

An OVA based on Spike's past, when he was a member of the Red Dragon Syndicate would be great.

Yeah, it would be great. But it's doubtful. Hopefully something can pull through with the success of the series. Smile

I'd prefer not to see it. I think the flashbacks were adequate enough to set the mood.

Bebop is great. Spinoffs will cheapen it. The movie was good, but I'd probably be jsut as happy without it.

Definetly. A OVA of Spike's past would really add to the series..give us a better and full understanding of it...though one about Faye would be nice..I'm still confused about her!! Confused I know she was involved in the gate accident and put to sleep and everything..but why'd she run from Sally Yung when she recognised her?..And who was that little girl with Sally?

The girl was her granddaughter from memory.

I suppose Faye ran as she wanted to return to her past she discovered, but when she saw Sally old, she realised that she could never go back.

oogi2000 hopes he is talking about the right person...

Exactly. The world moved on while Faye was frozen... all she had in the end was the crew of the Bebop.

Slightly off topic, but did it ever mention how Spike and Jet met up, and why they started working together? If not that alone would be an interesting story, considering that it would have been hard for Spike to trust anyone after everything that happened with the Red Dragon Syndicate and Vicious.

If there was Jet I'd be happy enough, who knows what will happen now that the series, the movie and the manga series (both) have ended ?!?

Don't people believe in "Too much of a good thing" anymore?

As Kermi said, spinoffs would cheapen the series and drown you in unnecessary story and plot if an OVA was anything like some of you are suggesting. You all agree that Cowboy Bebop was a great series, which led way for a not-quite-as-great movie, but the movie worked because it was just like a longer, self containing episode.

I enjoyed the movie immensely. Much better than the ending IMHO. I really didn't digest CB's ending too well.

Cowboy Bebop is nothing without it ending.
Movie has its ups and downs...

Ok first, whats IMHO?
I think that CB's ending is one of the best endings in anime that i've seen. It didn't get weird like BC2040 and NGE, though NGE was still great. If they made a movie or somthing about Spikes past it would be good but i reckon that not knowing as much better than knowing everything, though i would really like to see(in detail) how Spike escaped the Syndicate in the first place.

I agree, CB actually had a decent ending! Most of the other anime I've seen have very confusing endings, or could have gone further.

That's why it's fine if it doesn't continue. Wink

OVA = Original Video Animation.

OVAs are not normally shown on TV (though sometimes they are), and tend to have a bigger per episode budget than TV shows (and are normally shorter). They normally go directly to a home video/DVD release (don't be fooled though, here in the west if something goes directly to video/DVD it's often because it's not as good, in Japan it is different).

TV series usually have the lowest budget (per episode).
OVAs come next
Movies have the biggest budget.

Hope that helped.

Oh yeah, and sometimes people say OAV instead of OVA, but it's personal choice and means the same thing.

I was thinking that a spinoff series focused on Electra would be cool. None of the regular cast of Bebop characters; just her and newbies. She was such an interesting and cool character, one I wouldn't mind seeing again. And it wouldn't exactly be Cowboy Bebop - there would just be her as a small link. Razz

It would be nice, but not if it went under the label of 'Cowboy Bebop', if it were something completely different with Electra, that would be good.
Oh! and those three old guys. They have to be in it.
So long as they could get Kanno to do the music again, wouldn't be much without it imo.
