2LDK. not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but i caught it on sbs a while ago and liked it a lot. Short film and 1 half of a competition 2 directors were having. A single release with both short films (2ldk and the other) would be excellent.

The Eye Infinity
Thrid and last movie in the Pang brothers series.

Whispering Corridors 1-4
Haunted Korean schools

Dumplings
What is in those treats that make you younger?

Il Mare
Very sweet, and no doubt WAY better than the remake (just on that, have Hollywood run out of their own ideas and insist on remaking great movies into mediocre, or downright crap ones?)

Casshern
Live action of the robot-hunting anime

The Wizard of Darkness tv series
The tv series spin-off from the movies, obviously! Razz

Maid in Akihibara
Look for my thread in The Madhouse for a description.

Anything with Tak Sakaguchi in it!

Hi, Dharma!
Great Korean gangster action comedy film.

Hi, Dharma 2: Showdown in Seoul
Sequel to the first film though it appears the majority of the cast in the original don't appear in this one.

Another suggestion, how about My Wife is a Gangster (with the 3rd installment just released recently)?

Also, another movie I enjoyed recently was Fighter in the Wind (Korea). I'd like to suggest that too.

How about releasing John Waters' earlier films on dvd? I know that Pink Flamingoes has been released locally by Roadshow,but I would like to see these films of his on dvd in Australia;

Mondo Trasho

The Diane Linkaletter Story

Multiple Maniacs

Female Trouble

Desperate Living

I would love to see a John Waters' Director's Suite.

Be cool if Madman got Taxidermia. It's a very weird looking Hungarian movie that's being released in the UK later this year.

IMDB entry

Rotten Tomatoes where it's currently got 86% positive reviews

Death Note and Death Note the last name have both been picked up by Eastern Eye. They will be released around the same time as the anime early next year.

Be awesome if Madman got some Coffin Joe titles:

At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul
This Night I Will Possess Your Corpse
Awakening of the Beast

They're Brazilian horror from the 60s. There's others as well but I know those three have been released in the US by Fantoma. This Night I Will Possess Your Corpse has also been screened on SBS.

There's a sequel to the first two films coming out next year, titled Embodiment of Evil.

I just finished watching the Death Note live-action movies, and they were cool. Perhaps the spin-off movie L: Change the WorLd would make a good license?

Greaser's Palace

It's a western with Jesus in it. Need I say more?

Be much awesome if Madman were to acquire this. As far as I can tell it was released on DVD in the US but has been out of print for while, and so is almost completely unavailable worldwide.

Also, it's directed by Iron Man's dad Razz

Not sure if anyone with a say at Madman actually reads this forum, but I guess I'll keep suggesting stuff in the hope they do. Two suggestions:

Hardware - often included on lists of best post apocalyptic films. Soundtrack includes Iggy Pop, Motorhead and Ministry. I haven't seen it, but it seems like a film that really deserves a decent DVD release.

L'Inferno - A 1911 silent film. Apparently the first Italian feature ever. From the screenshots I've seen it's full of some really great images. Been released in the US with a soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

New suggestion (now with picture!):

Hell's Ground (aka Zibahkhana) - The first modern Pakistani horror film. Heavily influenced by such films as Dawn of the Dead and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but uniquely set in Pakistan, with the cast speaking a mixture of English and Urdu throughout the film. Definitely a fun film I can highly recommend.

Summer Vacation 1999

I already posted this in the Madman Films Suggestions thread, but now I realise this is probably the place to suggest it; my mistake.

Directed by Shusuke Kaneko (Death Note movies, Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-out Attack)
Released 1988

To my knowledge, it was released subtitled in the US on VHS in 1998, and in Japan on Region 2 DVD in 2001, but never in Australia on in an English-subtitled DVD format.

However, it has garnered very positive reviews and a great deal of praise from Asian film connoisseurs.

I am confident it would make a superb addition to Eastern Eye's marvellous range fo Asian titles.

Crows Zero

One of Takashi Miike's recent films. This has got some really great reviews and was successful enough that a sequel is now in the works. I don't think Madman has released any Miike films, but this would be a great one to start with.

And a completely different recommendation:

Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

A documentary on everyone's favorite journalist. Meant to be both entertaining and informative. Considering the guy had one hell of an interesting life, that ain't all too surprising.

Great to hear you got Gonzo and glad to hear you at least tried to get Crows.

Unfortunately many of the Australian releases of Miike's films have been lacking so it'd be nice if Madman managed to snag some of them, but obviously if the deal ain't right then not much can be done.

I think Musuko is one of those films that has to be a must for Eastern Eye. It was the film I worked with for my film study component of Japanese for my HSC in 1997 and it's a film I've been dying to get on DVD ever since. It's one of those great Japanese films that looks at the way regional japanese people are treated, honne no tamae, family ties, the burdens of the eldest, the conflict between city and country and the cold reality of the life of a sarariman. I'd say that I think it would make an excellent addition to Eastern Eye, but I think its nominations and awards speak for themselves.

Here are a couple of links on it:

Even though Madman didn't get Crows Zero, I hope they haven't given up on Miike.

Reviews for his latest film Yatterman are just starting to appear on the net and it appears to be pretty great.

I'd like to see a bit more love from South East Asia.

The Kuntilanak series is a pretty good example of Indonesian horror, (and there is a lot of crap out there)

The story is about a girl who becomes possessed by a Kuntilanak (a she-demon. White dress, black hair, kills people) and she tries to battle it from taking her over completely. But along the way, she kills lots of people.

Surprisingly creepy in parts, it's a very well made Indonesian horror film.

(Although the first in the series is also known as 'The Chanting' for some reason)

The other covers are: Kuntilanak 2 and Kuntilanak 3
